ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
HVAC mechanic installs, modifies, and repairs refrigeration – hermetic, semi hermetic, mechanical, screw, scroll and centrifugal units to 1100 tons; air conditioning, ventilation; reverse osmosis systems, process coolers; ice machines; air compressors; cascade refrigerant systems and related control systems.
Perform test facility maintenance operations for two divisions including maintaining the preventive maintenance schedule and the service and repair of environmental test chambers.Performs difficult installation tasks involving assembly, testing, calibrating, and adjusting of temperature control and environmental control systems.Will maintain and repair specialized laboratory equipment such as fume hoods, de-ionized water systems, vacuum systems, gas lines valves, meters, gages, thermostats, pumps, and cascade refrigeration systems. Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.Select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts. Contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work. Review, analyze, and integrate the technical work of others.Read and interpret data from scientific instruments and equipment. Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely. Read and interpret drawings and manuals.Listen to and understand information and ideas presented verbally.Read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures including the National Electrical Code.Work around explosives and have a current Ammunition and Explosives Certification.Lift heavy loads within applicable safety standards.Work extended hours with little prior notice.
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to obtain/maintain a SECRET level security clearance. Must have completed HS/GED.Successful graduation from a formalized apprenticeship program in machining/fabrication or a 2-year Trade School Program, and have 3 years of experience in machine/fabrication shop operations to include mill and lathe operations.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in Cascade Refrigeration Systems, Chillers, Heat pumps, and Gas related equipment.Experience in the electrical field installing conduit and electrical system.Experience in the plumbing field and pipe fitting. Have prior experience with the National Electrical Code.Be familiar with the use of Microsoft Office programs.
