Come join us as we lead energy, together. **Primary Purpose of Position** HVAC/R Mechanic is responsible for independently performing skilled task in troubleshooting, operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of commercial air conditioning and heating systems, water treatment, controls, and all other building mechanical and electrical systems. Work involves the lifting of mechanical equipment and apparatus and may be performed in areas of unconditioned spaces and outdoor areas. The campus is a 256-acre site with multiple work locations on campus including powerplant, chilled water plants, cooling towers, and high voltage electrical distribution. **Primary Duties and Accountabilities** + Perform operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of all mechanical air conditioning and heating systems, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, hot/cold water lines, expansion joints, plumbing, and electric motors. + Rebuild pumps, install mechanical seals, and pump alignment using proper tools as necessary. + Troubleshoot and make necessary repairs to HVAC and Refrigeration systems. + Gas and arc weld, braze and solder as necessary, to do repairs and fabrication for existing and/or new systems. + Troubleshoot and repair electric, electronic, and pneumatic controls systems. + Possess adequate sight, hearing and speaking capabilities to maintain a safe working condition and be able to distinguish wire colors and component color codes. + Routine preventive maintenance duties as found in these specifications to include but not limited to filter changes, lubrication, control and performance checks. + Evacuate HVAC systems, perform refrigerant leak test, recover refrigerant and replace refrigerant compressor following the most recent state and federal regulatory requirements for service and repair practices of HVAC systems. + Repair and maintenance on centrifugal, screws, reciprocal and open drive chiller systems, and refrigeration systems to include various sizes of rooftop package units, split systems, air handlers, computer room systems, low pressure steam systems, hot water and chilled water systems, process chilled water systems, pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic systems. + Respond to alarms and assist in emergency situations. + Supervision of Union Apprentices. + Capable and licensed to drive a motor vehicle. Ability to drive a company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. + Maintain a safe and accident-free workplace and exercise common sense and good judgement when performing duties. + Respond to emergency situations. + Attend safety meetings and participate accordingly. + Comply with and enforce Constellation’s policy and procedures manual and safety guidelines. **Minimum Qualifications** + High School graduate or equivalent. + Journeyman status through the IUOE Union or equivalent. Certified Journeyman preferred. (5 years+ experience). + Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. + Familiarity with operation of building automation systems. Ability to learn and attend classes for new or existing BMS systems. + Ability to read blueprints, pneumatic, mechanical, and/or electric control drawings. + Possess an EPA approved Universal certification. + Must be willing to work overtime when needed and be willing to take the on-call assignment. + Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written and oral instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations. + Ability to lift 50 pounds. + Must be physically able to climb ladders. **EEO** At Constellation, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
