The HVAC Mechanic role in the Energy Resource Management Office (ERMO) within the Department of General Services (DGS) offers an exciting opportunity to work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an HVAC Refrigeration Maintenance Mechanic, you will Identify and troubleshoot complex equipment malfunctions, perform diagnostics, disassemble, and reassemble equipment, repair, and replace parts and controls, and test to ensure proper functions of equipment. Your duties will include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment that supports an entire facility to include chillers, boilers, pumping systems, cooling towers, and other related HVAC equipment. You will be expected to perform routine repairs on air handling equipment by replacing failed components. This position installs basic HVAC units such as split system air conditioners or heat pumps used for comfort heating and cooling, window air conditioners, circulation or exhaust fans, and similar equipment. You will have the opportunity to assist higher level trades persons with identifying and troubleshooting problems related to air flow, water flow, refrigerant flows, electrical failures of motors, and electrical circuits in HVAC systems including process cooling equipment.
