Five (5) or more years’ experience with HVAC systems.
Has an approved EPA Certified License to handle and purchase refrigerants.

Quick Link https://employment.blinn.edu/postings/11286 Position Details Principal Accountabilities Principal Accountabilities 1. Perform preventative maintenance as per established preventative maintenance program, and demonstrate proactive maintenance procedures.
2. Respond to and complete work requests for problems with the HVAC/R units or systems.
3. Troubleshoot and make repairs to heating and direct expansion HVAC/R systems, electrical wiring related to HVAC/R equipment, soldering or welding of Freon or water lines, replacing HVAC components of units and replacing complete HVAC units.
4. Monitor computerized HVAC based control systems.
5. Participate in projects relating to the HVAC/R department and systems.
6. Participate actively in established safety programs designed to provide a safe work environment.
7. Maintain proper chemical levels for protection of all boilers and chilled water systems where applicable.
8. Maintain a parts inventory for common repairs.
9. Be able to enter work requests into the computerized maintenance program and print out work orders and preventative maintenance work orders.

Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance services as well as minor and major repair on HVAC/R equipment. Knowledge of safety procedures relating to HVAC/R standards and must adherence to all safety standards and work practices as set by the Central Plant. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot all types of HVAC equipment malfunctions. Computer literacy. Well organized and able to prioritize work, and able to work independently without close supervision. Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions. Ability to read, write, and communicate with co-workers, supervisors and internal and external customers. Near visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision and color vision. Ability to stoop, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawling, stretching, twisting of upper body, prolong standing on concrete floors and walking over uneven terrain, and ability to lift 50 pounds and unstable objects. Successful completion of job related, continuing and routine education as assigned by supervisor as required. Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program areas, principles and practices of HVAC. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace is required. Ability to work overtime may be required to complete a job in progress, or to handle emergency situations that may occur outside of regular work hours. Be able to take after hour call.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications Previous experience with chill water and hot water heating and cooling units. Previous experience with refrigerated chilling systems.
Preferred Competencies Preferred Competencies Previous experience directly related to direct expansion air conditioning and gas fired heating systems. Previous experience with HVAC energy management programs and systems.
