Job Title: HVAC Technician
Shift: M-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
Pay: $29-$34
Job Summary:
EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a Journeyman HVAC Technician in Suffolk, VA. The Technician will report daily to the EMCOR Supervisor and support him to provide quality workmanship and high work standards to maintain a professional working environment. Primary responsibilities will be responding and providing service and feedback to the customer on all hot and cold calls while utilizing Automated Building Controls and performing general maintenance of equipment as required. Knowledge of and capable to perform minor plumbing, electrical and various general tasks assigned. Qualified applicant must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver’s license and have at least 3 to 5 years of hands on experience in facilities/HVAC maintenance and dealing with a wide range of general type services. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to be on-call periodically during non-business hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicates effectively with Site Supervisor to determine service needs. Coordinates and supervise client sub-contractors while performing service on site. HVAC maintenance and repair skills. PM, troubleshoot and repair equipment as required. Responsible for maintaining, operating and troubleshooting the HVAC systems to include heating & cooling, controls, ventilation, heat exchangers, chillers, Liebert units, air handling units, VAV’s and all auxiliary equipment associated Maintains all related documentation such as service reports, refrigerant logs, equipment records in the CMMS system, etc Building automation monitoring and adjustments. Respond to Hot & Cold area temperature complaints, make adjustments and repairs. Performs a wide variety of corrective maintenance work request. Assist other skilled employees to perform projects as requested. Assist the Team in maintaining, operating and troubleshooting the HVAC heating, ventilating, air conditioning, heat exchangers, chillers, air handling units, and general maintenance issues such as plumbing and other general maintenance problems.Qualifications:
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or Vocational School a plus 5-7 years of experience related to HVAC facility maintenance. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Ability to perform various general type maintenance tasks. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence utilizing basic computer skills and ability to communicate via email and internet use. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Knowledge of chiller operations (reciprocating, rotary screw, air cooled) and various HVAC equipment Must have BAS (Building Automation System) experience and working knowledge of energy management systemsMust have the ability to obtain a Security Clearance, current clearance a plus.
EPA approved CFC certification with Journeymen license preferred
Knowledge of Raised Floor AC systems and perform Preventive Maintenance on HVAC controls and operating systems as scheduled in the Facilities Center System, including required calibrations. Organization skills to maintain the client facility maintenance records and reports.Time management skills to coordinate and supervise the client sub-contractors while on site and manage to complete the daily routine tasks assigned.
Licenses/Certifications:
EPA Universal or Mechanical IV HVAC License or obtain EPA Universal within six months Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and valid driver's license in good standingPhysical Demands:
The ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and ability to walk the facility throughout the day are required. Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift. Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis. Have the ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May be required to work in confined, restricted and hot areas.
