POSITION DESCRIPTION: Works under the direct supervision of the Post Engineer Superintendent and Post Engineer Supervisor, Jackson Barracks. Install, maintain, repair, and service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Maintenance and Repair:Must be able to make maintenance decisions and act independently in completing maintenance and repair work orders and scheduled preventative maintenance services. Inspect rough and finish work for quality and code compliance. Troubleshoot, repair, and replace all commercial HVAC units on Jackson Barracks and Camp Villere. Must be able to complete factory recommended maintenance on all units and annotate maintenance performed on required logs or forms. Identify Preventative Maintenance Tasks to be accomplished within established schedule for all HVAC/R Systems, to include, but not limited to: Boilers, Pumps, Water Softeners, Heaters, Air Distribution Systems, Circulation Pumps, and other HVAC/R systems per industry standards and CFMO standards. Must maintain all HVAC shop tools, vehicles, and equipment. Maintain service order records, purchase receipts, a purchase log, and time and attendance sheets. Inspect facilities and equipment and determine scope of work required to service, maintain, or make repairs. Maintain safety training documentation and records. May be required to perform services outside the normal hours of operation to respond to Urgent and/or Emergency work orders. New Construction and Maintenance and Repair Projects: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, data plates and diagrams. As required, works closely with the JB Operations Managers and Construction Facility Management Office (CFMO) to make recommendations and provide input on all mechanical drawings that consist of the HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning) systems provided in HVAC plans. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):Utilize all personal protective equipment and perform all tasks in accordance with OSHA Safety Policies, rules, and regulations. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Other:Hazards of job are working in hot attics or outside racks in peak heating hours during the summer and repairing pipes with soldering equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Will be required to travel to Camp Villere when the job dictates. Must attend safety meetings, classes, and training through LMD as required. Will be required to report to work during a State of Emergency effecting Jackson Barracks and/or surrounding areas. Perform other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Required- Minimum of five years of on-the-job experience and education in heating, ventilation and air conditioning repairs which includes specialized skills in pipefitting, and structural layout. Must possess and maintain a valid refrigerant recovery / recycle certification in accordance with 40 CFR Part 82, section 608 and 609 of the clean air Act of 1990. Must be licensed and certified as an air conditioning/refrigerant technician and possess a universal type of EPA card. The ability to install, repair, maintain and perform services to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings. Knowledge of applicable OSHA industry standards and State and Local Safety Policies/Guidance. Must be EPA Certified. Proficient in using computers (Outlook, Windows and Microsoft Office Suite), and proficient in using Integrated Engineering Management System (IEMS) type applications. Ability to lift 50 pounds. High school diploma and must have a valid LA driver’s license, as the employee will be required to drive state vehicles to transport equipment &/or personnel when needed. Preferred:5 years of specialized education and up to 10 years’ experience or more in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R). Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply. MW 215 HVAC Requirements: Knowledge of the Commercial HVAC market 1 + year of training in HVAC and willingness for more training in HVAC. 3-5 year in field technician experience Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating Reliable and self-motivated Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Proficient in reading schematics and work plans Ability to field after hour calls if required MW 216 HVAC Requirements: 1 + year of training in HVAC and willingness for more training in HVAC. 6 years – 10 years of verifiable HVAC work experience. 6-10 years of experience in installation of commercial HVAC systems. Must possess Licensing or Certifications in HVAC. Any certificates related to HVAC Excellence (Employment Ready certificate), the Professional Technician (PT) certificate, and the Master Specialist Hands-On (MS) certificate. Additionally, HVAC, E.P.A, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), credentialing process that qualifies HVAC technicians to handle chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other refrigerants in a manner that complies with environmental regulations. MW 217 HVAC Requirements: Minimum of 11 years of verifiable work experience that demonstrates the highest levels of competency within the field. Must possess: + Licensing or Certifications in Commercial and Residential HVAC. + NATE certification which is a series of knowledge and experience-based testing in HVAC that’s updated every two years. + EPA Section 608 Technician Certification + HVAC Excellence certification. E.P.A, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, and other credentialing that qualifies HVAC technicians to handle chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other refrigerants in a manner that complies with environmental regulations. Must have at least 10 years of project management experience involved in all aspects of designing, planning, coordinating, staffing, and executing HVAC installation projects. GENERAL: Must have a valid Driver’s License, Social Security Card and Birth Certificate. Must qualify to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) Card. Periodic travel may be required. Must be available to report to duty during emergency or disaster situations. Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with agency personnel, peers, superiors, subordinates and the public. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must meet physical requirements to perform functions of the position. Must attend/complete all LMD annual training and other training required for the position.
