Overview This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. The HVAC Supervisor will take ownership of all site and related projects, to include the service and repair of environmental control systems using direct knowledge or refrigeration theory, pipefitting, structural layout and troubleshooting for a large facility U.S. Government Operations and Maintenance program located in Iraq. This position will assume complete responsibility for installation and repair of all HVAC equipment-related operation and maintenance, preventative maintenance, repair and installation. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. Operate, maintain and repair site HVAC systems including: air-cooled chillers, direct exchange units, air handling units, filters and chemical biological filters (if applicable), ductwork, dampers, actuators, fans, cold water lines, heating and cooling units, fan coil units, electric reheats, diffusers, vents, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, exhaust fans, supply fans, smoke exhaust fans, fresh air ducts, control valves, cooling coils and ventilation systems for laundry rooms, kitchens and rest rooms. Mount compressors, condenser units and air handling units, following blueprints, engineering specifications and manufacturer recommendations. Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment and spare parts for HVAC operations. Schedule personnel, including shifts and rotations, to maintain acceptable levels of service at all times. Assign tasks, establish/enforce standards of conduct and performance in the work environment. Inspect and audit work in progress and completed work to ensure work meets applicable codes, quality standards and customer satisfaction. Manage tools and inventory to ensure proper accountability and adequate supply levels to meet routine operational needs and reasonable surges and non-routine requests. Complete quantitative and qualitative reports. Provide verbal and written input on policies, plans and procedures, and other administrative tasks. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Material & Equipment Directly Used: Windows Computer and associated software, cell phone, two-way radio, vehicle and other office equipment. All equipment of types that require maintenance or certifications pursuant to the OBO Maintenance Standards and/or applicable code or manufacture requirements, equipment which is operated through a sequence of operations, electronic controllers, sensors, and network devices, agency owned sensors, if applicable Working Environment: This contract is performed in a contingency operations environment, in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this contract, the employee will regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment. Temperatures can reach 120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50 – 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform job requirements in this environment, as well as deploying to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are typically six (6) days per week and ten (10) hours per day. Physical Activities: Employees may be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors. All employees must be able to move quickly to cover during security alarms. This includes being able to lift, carry and/or wear forty (40) pounds of personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time and being capable of running during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk. All staff must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Education / Certifications: High School Diploma or GED. HVAC vocational diploma or completed apprentice program with a Journeyman license or equivalent. Security Vetting: Already possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued Secret security clearance or be able obtain a favorable USG Secret clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order. Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required. Experience: Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Two (2) years’ experience as a Master HVAC Technician; or Ten (10) years’ experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician; or Meet any U.S. State licensing board requirements for a Master HVAC Technician license. Licenses and Certifications: Current Master HVAC Technician License (must hold prior to hire date or able to obtain within 180 days of employment). Section 608 Certification. Valid driver’s license from home of record. Skills: Knowledge of applicable U.S. codes, International Mechanical Code 2012 and acceptable trade practices. Strong knowledge of appliance operations and repairs. Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. Highly Desired: Previous international experience (2 years or more) Work experience in harsh environmental conditions (2 years or more) Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
