About you and this role

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed, experienced person to fill a HVAC Technologist position in the maintenance department for the Hahnville, LA site.

The Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technologist works within the Saint Charles Operations Site (SCO) and will be responsible for ensuring maintenance and repair of the comfort cooling and process cooling systems used on site, with limited troubleshooting of large air conditioning chillers & controls. The candidate will also work closely with reliability engineers and maintenance technologists to resolve maintenance and repair issues.

Responsibilities:

Assist in continuous improvement of preventive & corrective maintenance policies & proceduresEnsure adequate resourcing, training of contract HVAC comfort cooling technicians to meet site needsEnsures refrigerant recoveries following Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelinesMaintain and repair comfort cooling HVAC and process cooling according to industry and EPA guidelines utilizing in-house technicians and outside servicesEnsures proper maintenance and repair of ventilation equipment, Lab Hoods, Lab Chillers, and appliancesCoordinate with business maintenance groups and facility tenants to properly plan jobs including job scope and timeline, reducing impact on HVAC comfort cooling losses and building populationsServe as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all comfort coolingServe as Owner’s Rep for new installations or modification to existing comfort cooling equipmentDevelop and implement Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and task plans for comfort cooling equipment based on current and historic failures and re-work evaluationProvide cost analysis of repair/replace to equipment owner utilizing historic failures and re-work evaluationLead and participate in MTS safety meetingsCommunicate work status with service providers, originators, and facility tenants in a timely mannerImprove overall reliability and decrease cost of all comfort cooling systems and associated equipment based on historical data and rework evaluationEnsure equipment repair and repair techniques are documented and filed with the Appropriate document management systemAlternate Work Schedule - Typically 4-10 ScheduleDivision Support (Call Out) responsibilities are required in certain situationsAfter hours and weekend call is required in certain situations

Required Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent is requiredFive (5) or more years verifiable experience troubleshooting/repairing HVAC equipment within an Industrial environment (experience during the apprentice program is not included)Completion of accredited trade school or apprenticeship program in industrial refrigeration or HVAC is requiredCurrent, valid US driver’s licenseMust possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) or more years verifiable experience troubleshooting/repairing industrial process chilling equipmentKnowledge of HVAC motor controls and be able to demonstrate HVAC troubleshooting skillsEPA Universal Refrigerant CertificationAbility to lead a small work group including scheduling, budgeting, planning etc.Ability to research, understand and implement new processes and technology as needed to meet role responsibilitiesBe able to work within a Maintenance Work Process and help resolve issues involved in planning and scheduling repairsWilling to work and contribute in a team-based environmentProficiency with Dow workstations and programs related to job and reporting requirements (i.e. Word, Excel, SAP, Outlook)Basic computer/workstation skillsBe proficient in computers to perform job tasksStrong Interpersonal, Facilitative, and Organizational skills with the ability to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the siteEffectively interacts with multiple functions and diverse individuals to achieve goalsDemonstrates excellent decision-making skills, ability to prioritize appropriatelyStrong troubleshooting skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influenceAble to work with independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environmentStrong work ethicHave a high regard for personal safety and the safety of othersAble to work overtime when needed (including weekends & holidays)Able to wear all Personal Protective EquipmentAble to read, write and speak English
