Job Description:Broadcom CSG Group designs, fabricates, tests, and supports state of the art network switches for internal and external customers. As a test engineer, you’ll be responsible for board bring up and debug activities for the PCBAs at each stage of the development cycle. You’ll work closely with other test engineers, system design engineers, and technicians at each stage to troubleshoot and report any issues observed in each prototype run.
This role requires experience bringing up, testing and debugging high speed electronics and high power, low voltage power subsystems on complex PCBAs. You’ll need to program power ICs, clock generators, and non-volatile memories, check clocks and voltage levels, and diagnose and fix any issues found. Linux and associated software tools will be used to check board functionality. You may also be involved in testing the Broadcom switch ASIC functionality as well, working with many Broadcom other engineers in the process. The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, is thus essential.
ResponsibilitiesPerform bring-up testing involving powering up new boards stage by stage, including programming power, logic, and memory components
Troubleshooting and repairing failing circuits, including power and logic circuits
Reworking boards including soldering small components and working with outside contract manufacturers to replace large or high pin-count ICs
Collaborating with engineers both across Broadcom to resolve complex issues, including ASIC testing
Identify and report problems found, regardless of whether they are design, fabrication, or assembly issues
System testing using Linux and Windows PCs
Writing, editing, and reading test plans
Requirements and skills5 or more years of experience as a test engineer
High speed digital circuit experience including use of high speed oscilloscopes, function generators, and time domain reflectometry (TDR).
Removal and soldering of low pin-count surface-mount components (e.g. passive components)
Read and comprehend schematics and component datasheets
Excellent soldering skills, especially with fine-pitch SMT components down to 0201
Ability to periodically move heavy equipment short distances (< 75 lb), and good hand-eye coordination
Familiarity with Linux operating system and software tools is desirable
4-year Bachelor of Science in Engineering or 2-year degree/diploma in a technical discipline

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $162,000
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
