By leveraging its core competencies, particularly in drilling, engineering, automation, data science and manufacturing, Nabors aims to innovate the future of energy and enable the transition to a lower carbon world. **JOB SUMMARY** Nabors is seeking a skilled and motivated scientist or engineer to join our research and development team focused on hydrogen and carbon nanomaterial applications. The candidate will synthesize, characterize, and test novel hydride materials for proof of concept and commercial feasibility related to hydrogen storage, gas adsorption and energy storage. This is an interdisciplinary position requiring hands-on working knowledge of chemistry, physics and engineering. The ideal candidate must have a willingness to investigate novel ideas in a dynamic environment with other scientists and engineers. **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Design, synthesize and test novel hydride materials using inert atmosphere techniques. + Assemble and maintain laboratory equipment. + Characterize materials using a variety of analytical techniques including, XRD, Raman, FTIR, TGA and electron microscopy. + Evaluate the performance of new materials for proof of concept and commercial feasibility. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges related commercialization of new applications. + Maintain accurate records, prepare reports and present results. + Stay current with industrial trends, state of the art and academic advances in field of carbon nanomaterials and hydrogen storage applications. + Participate in training and development activities to enhance technical, safety and professional skills. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS** + Master’s degree in chemistry, materials science, process engineering or related field. + Working understanding of hydrogen and carbon nanomaterial applications. + At least 2 years of experience with inert atmosphere techniques and equipment including glove box, vacuum line, tube furnace, Schlenk line, autoclaves, Parr reactors and sieverts apparatus. + Experience manipulating all fundamental phases of matter. + Basic understanding of hydrogen storage and hydrides. + Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and techniques such as Raman, UV-Vis, XRD and FTIR. + Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and draw conclusions from results. + Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to work independently and in a team environment. + Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Ph.D. in chemistry, material science or closely related field. + Expertise in the handling of materials in extreme environments including high pressure, high temperature, vacuum and cryogenics. + Experience managing projects, facilities or junior personnel. + Ability to flourish as part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers. + The successful candidate will be innovative, self-starting and team orientated. **BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS** + Control and variable troubleshooting skills. + An appreciation and commitment to safety and quality. + Comprehensive problem-solving skills. + Demonstrates initiative and ability to multitask. + Work independently and in a team environment. **TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS** + Hands-on mechanical aptitude. + Ability to draft technical reports and presentations. + Data gathering and analysis. + MS Office computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. + General project management. **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS** + The primary location for this position is an office and laboratory environment with some travel. + Able to lift 20 lbs.
