Responsibilities Monitor telemetered data feeds for operational status and accuracy of data. Coordinate necessary repairs and corrections with team lead. Review streamflow data for quality assurance and quality control. Work with team members to correct any errors. Performs office and field work related to the specific site selection, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of hydrologic stations for the entire Sacramento District which encompasses 5 states. Based on field investigations and tests of alternative type equipment, recommend site selection and type of equipment to be installed at current or proposed gaging stations. Participates in making calculations of flow at Corps of Engineers stream gaging stations. Make detailed surveys of channel characteristics over limited reaches, and computes flood flow and channel capacities. Coordinates with Project staff, supervision, and private land owners to schedule installation and maintenance of Water Management equipment. Keeps current and informed of research, new techniques, methods, procedures and devices pertaining to the District's various hydrologic network gaging systems. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (2) repair and/or installation of gages; (3) analyses of hydrologic samples and recommends corrective actions; AND (4) identify problems and recommend solution to both data and gages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you MUST meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
