What will you do?
This is an exciting opportunity for a Flooding & Hydrology engineer to join our NSW Surface Water Team in Sydney/Newcastle.
This will be a start of exploring more growth with a world-class company and various types and scales of projects within but not limited to NSW and ACT.
On a day-to-day basis, you will tackle the delivery of flood assessment on major Transport/Land/Water infrastructure/Dams projects across NSW/ACT. You will collaborate across disciplines internally and externally with clients and public authorities to address technical queries and drive an optimum engineering solution.
As a Hydrology & Flooding engineer in the NSW Waterways team (Sydney/Newcastle), you will join as a key member that adds to the diversity of thought, skills, and experience of the group. We know the work we do is vital in assisting our region’s sustainable economic development and, it’s the technical expertise and the depth of knowledge of our people that really sets us apart. In this role, you will ‘Bring Ideas to Life’ for Aurecon and our clients.
The role
Due to recent project wins in the Transport, Water Resources, and Advisory Markets we are growing our team. In this position, you will play an integral part in an ANZ team of highly skilled flooding specialist that ‘bring ideas to life’ for our clients.
In this role, you will conduct hydrological and hydraulic investigations and design for a wide range of projects through collaboration with other hydrology and hydraulic teams, transport teams, drainage teams, Dams teams and water resources advisory teams.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor or Masters’ level degree in civil or environmental engineering and tertiary qualification
5-10 years of experience in the water resources industry
Proficiency in TUFLOW, RORB, WBNM, and XP-RAFTS required
Proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS or MapInfo
Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate information and modelling results
Strong understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively at both an internal and external client-facing level
Ability to deliver the flood modelling tasks on time within the budget, time frame and high quality
Have an interest in technological advances and applying innovation
