Hyper V Subject Matter Expert - SCVMM

What success looks like in this role:

As a Hyper-V and Windows Administrator SME, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing Hyper-V virtualization environments and Windows Server infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly Hyper-V, as well as expertise in Windows Server operating systems. In this role you will also be responsible for managing data security, configuring user access, and maintaining the stability and availability of Infrastructre.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Install, configure, and manage Windows Server operating systems.

·         Implement and maintain Active Directory services, including user and group management.

·         Monitor and ensure the security and stability of Windows Server environments.

·         Apply patches, updates, and security configurations to Windows servers.

·         Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

·         Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.

·         Conduct performance analysis and implement enhancements to improve system efficiency.

·         Work closely with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance-related issues.

·         Design, implement, and maintain Hyper-V virtualization environments.

·         Configure and optimize virtual machines (VMs) for performance and resource efficiency.

·         Manage virtual networks and storage to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

·         Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Hyper-V virtualization.

·         Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

·         Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed Windows systems.

·         Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.

·         Review and troubleshoot system error logs and user-reported errors.

·         Managing user access.

·         Implement and enforce security best practices for Hyper-V and Windows environments.

·         Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Other Critical Skills for Wintel SME:

·         Collaborate with other IT Manager for server upgrades.

·         Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions to meet organizational requirements.

·         Participate in capacity planning and resource forecasting for Hyper-V and Windows environments.

·         Should have knowledge on backup and disaster recovery implementation for Hyper-V and Windows environments.

·         Should have experience to regularly test and update disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system availability.

·         Provide training to IT staff and end-users on Hyper-V and Windows-related technologies.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Key Qualifications:

Minimum experience 7+ years’ experience working on AVD support.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.Strong verbal and written skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Proven experience as a Hyper-V and Windows Administrator with expertise in virtualization technologies.Microsoft certifications such as MCSE: Core Infrastructure or equivalent.knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory.Familiarity with storage systems, network protocols, and security best practices.Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors.
