I&C Engineer III

 

Airswift has been tasked by one of our major Oil and Gas clients to seek an I&C Engineer to work on an initial 12-month contract in Lake Charles, LA - possibly to be extended!

Seeking a talented and experienced Instrumentation and Controls Project Engineer to support project execution at the Lake Charles Refinery. This role involves managing project design and implementation while ensuring alignment with company standards, technical requirements, and capital strategies. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in instrumentation and control engineering and demonstrate a strong ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously. Responsibilities Execute projects under the FEL (Front-End Loading) process and ensure adherence to required standards and engineering practices. Oversee the development of AFD and AFE-quality project estimates, contribute to the annual capital long-range plan, and assist with ongoing project funding approvals. Coordinate FEL and detailed engineering efforts with mechanical, civil, instrument, and electrical resources to ensure technically sound and cost-effective project solutions. Develop project execution plans and milestone schedules while managing scope, cost control, and change management. Provide turnaround and construction support for assigned projects. Establish and manage project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines aligned with capital strategies. Collaborate with technical consultants, area resources, and operations teams. Lead and coordinate the MOC (Management of Change) process for assigned projects. Design or approve Safety Instrumented Systems. Provide expert consultation on refinery instrumentation issues. Oversee the design and implementation of process instrumentation and control systems, ensuring reliability and cost-effectiveness. Support process designers in creating specifications, operating manuals, and training materials. Write and perform purchase and construction specifications and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Conduct audits of instrumentation installations and process control loops. Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering (or related field).
Experience: 5–10 years of relevant experience in instrumentation and control engineering. At least 2 years of maintenance and/or engineering experience with an emphasis on instrumentation and controls or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical Skills: Knowledge of all life cycle phases of Safety Instrumented Systems. Experience with designing reliable and cost-effective instrumentation and control systems. Proficiency in managing projects within established scope, schedule, and budget parameters.
Additional Competencies: Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver on commitments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
