The Infrastructure and Architecture Engineering Services group seeks a talented and motivated Identity and Access Management (IAM) Software Engineer to join us designing, implementing and supporting scientific software solutions. The job will utilize and build on your experience in IAM solution development, cloud computing and automation to continuously improve the security, functionality and compliance of a variety of existing and emerging technologies and applications. Your responsibilities will include working with a diverse team of software engineering staff, IT professionals and computational scientists to identify and design software and system security requirements. You will join a growing team of cloud computing and HPC engineers as well as AI/ML professionals with a variety of technical skills and experience in both technology and life sciences. Together you will have the opportunity to build a modern, secure research and development environment to help propel Genentech's drug development ambitions.
The Genentech Research and Early Development organization is a world-class research and drug development organization. Onsite presence, on our South San Francisco campus, is expected for at least 3 days a week.
The Opportunity:
Lead an engineering team developing authentication and authorization solutions
Help define IAM patterns and practices for storage and applications across gRED
Collaborate with engineers to develop tools and processes for cloud security operations
Partner with developers to identify and remediate software vulnerabilities and risks
Automate vulnerability scans and patching pipelines for operating systems and software
Assist Security Operations to ensure continuous compliance and security monitoring
Rigorously document and review the security of technical systems and processes
Mentor team members and software engineering colleagues on good security practices
Who You Are:
Minimum education level is a bachelor's degree, preferably in a technology discipline
8+ years of experience in software development and cloud computing security
Ability to architect, develop, build and deploy software development tools and processes
Demonstrated experience interpreting and acting on vulnerability findings (CVE, CVSS)
Technical skills in operating system and container security using CI/CD methodologies
Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to non-technical audiences
Excellent interpersonal skills with your own team, technical IT partners, and stakeholders

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $160,700 - $298,500 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
