Position SummaryThis role encompasses mainly operational duties. The primary objectives of this position are receipt/retrieval, processing, accessioning, annotation, storage and distribution of human biospecimens.
Job Responsibilities Receives, verifies, processes and accessions biofluid research specimens for internal and external basic, translational and clinical research trials/studies. Couriers solid tissue from the operating rooms and procedure suites to surgical pathology. Assists IBC PA with processing and labeling solid tissue specimens for subsequent accessioning and storage and/or direct distribution. Responsible for the retrieval of clinical remnant specimens from Microbiology, Virology, ED for subsequent aliquoting, accessioning and storage. Assembles and distributes blood and tissue collection kits as directed. Assists with automated nucleic acid extraction from blood, fresh/frozen FFPE tissue, and various biofluids for downstream applications. Organizes and tracks H&E slides for submission to review and documents QC analysis in biorepository software. Communicates and resolves sample and data discrepancies with user practice groups. Performs other related duties as directed. Education High School Diploma ExperienceBachelor’s degree, preferably in Life Sciences or related field.
2+ years laboratory experience preferred.
BSL-2 Enhanced/Virology training and certification may be required, training would be provided.

Must be willing to stagger hours to accomodate IBC collection schedule.
Must be willing to handle/process infectious disease biospecimens, including but not limited to SARS-CoV-2.
