Short Description:
Mcare needs to retain an individual experienced in and knowledgeable of the RPG IV–ILE programming language, the IBM iSeries platform, and DB2 databases. ***PLEASE NOTE - Candidates MUST HAVE INSURANCE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE to be considered at this time.
Complete Description:
Using this experience and knowledge, the individual must be able to perform tasks that require effective communication at a high technical level with Mcare’s business unit managers and staff. Based on an understanding of Mcare’s business needs, the individual must be able to plan, develop, follow and complete a project through the entire project life cycle.
The individual in this role will participate in responding to user service requests by doing one or more of the following:
• Meeting with the user to gather requirements;
• Meeting with Mcare’s Application Developer Administrator to design programs to meet the user’s requirements;
• Writing specifications and review with Mcare’s Application Developer Administrator;
• Coding, compiling, and testing program(s) to meet the specifications;
• Working with the user to develop documentation, complete testing and receive user approval to install the programming;
• Installing the programming; and
• Addressing any post-installation issues.
The individual in this role will participate in a progressive transfer of knowledge process that will include the following:
• Completing Mcare’s online training course;
• Reviewing Mcare’s online documentation, including workflows and user documentation, to acquire the base of knowledge to comprehend Mcare’s overall business processes and within each business unit;
• Understanding Mcare’s GENIUS application and other applications that support Mcare’s overall business processes and within each business unit; and
• Obtaining a depth of system, application and business process knowledge sufficient to provide training.
The individual will play a key role in the following ongoing projects:
• System Documentation of all Mcare Applications:
o Working with each business unit to create, review, revise and bring current Mcare’s user documentation in a manner that produces accurate, clear and concise documentation to be used as a training tool and as a reference resource;
o Review program specifications used by IT to create and modify programs that reside on the IBM iSeries to ensure these specifications are up-to-date and accurately describe the functions of the program(s);
• Infrastructure
o Analyzing future infrastructure needs within Mcare and assist in determining the steps or options Mcare takes to ensure a reliable, stable and flexible system that will incorporate current technologies; and participating in Mcare’s continuity of IT services.
