Position Title: Ice Technician
Department: Facilities
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt
Compensation: $23.00 hourly
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, an Ice Technician is responsible for maintaining proper ice conditions according to facility standards including ongoing maintenance of the ice resurfacers and ice making equipment at Toyota Arena.
Essential Functions:
Operate ice resurfacing equipment with a high degree of knowledge in a professional mannerComplete daily record keeping of maintenance logs and ice conditionsEfficiently and effectively carry out ice maintenance duties according to the needs of operationMonitor ice temperatures and conditions and communicate variances to supervisors and the Facilities ManagerDemonstrate a high regard for safety by completing required maintenance according to standard operating proceduresAdhere to manufacture specifications and OSHA standards when operating equipment or using materials to mitigate risk of injury to self and othersAssist in general maintenance projects outside the scope of ice maintenance and ice related duties as required in the facilities departmentMonitor activity on and around the ice surface to respond and reconcile potential unsafe conditionsParticipate in regularly scheduled safety trainings and recertificationsMaintain an organized work area in and around ice resurfacer staging areas, compressor rooms, loading dock areas, and other back of house locationsAssist with repairs to the dasher boards system, acrylic glass, and goal netsParticipate in ice making projects including ice painting and in ice logo installation/removalAdhere to all Toyota Arena policies, procedures, and security protocolsExperience/Training/Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED
0-1 years’ experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice making equipment
Desirable: 1-2 year’ experience operating an ice resurfacer and ice making equipment Current CIT certification
License/Certificate:
Valid California Driver License
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Position requires heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment
operation both indoors and out; may be subject to adverse conditions; work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
