IIoT Controls Technician
OVERVIEW
ATS’ Global Services team is a dynamic, change-leading team that drives the delivery of value-driven Services to our customers worldwide. Services is a growing component of the overall delivery of value to ATS’ customers globally and offers an opportunity for an opportunistic individual to create a well-defined offer structure of high-value service solutions to drive ongoing value.
The Controls Engineer will develop world-class software data collection, analysis, and reporting solutions for sophisticated automation equipment. This individual will contribute to new, next generation of Machine Intelligence software.
This role is open to candidates in Canada on the EST and CST time zones.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interface with users to develop and document software requirements.
• Develop design concepts, software design, and integration of software with electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
• Support other software engineers who deploy the software in specific applications.
• Integration assignments, involving leading-edge software and hardware technologies including interfacing with PLC’s, PC’s, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, laser, and other automation controllers.
• Provide mentorship to others.
• Perform reviews of concepts, code, and team designs; provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to software design standards and overall software quality.
• Maintain broad product knowledge to ensure the highest degree collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS
• A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on programming/software development and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
• Proven expertise in database design and architecture.
• Strong data analytics skills.
• Strong statistical analysis skills.
• A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel.
• Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner.
• Strong initiative, innovative, and keen attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; Experience working with customers to resolve problems.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%
• Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30 days from hire date as this is an essential job function.
In addition, the following experiences would be an asset:
• Understanding of automation mechanical, electrical and control systems.
• Knowledge of machine operation, maintenance, service, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with PLCs and PLC communication.
• Understanding and experience with OPC and industrial networks.
• Exposure and understanding of business intelligence.
