Department:

The Research and Development organization for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM) is committed to develop innovative technologies, modules and software that enable us to deliver world class TEM microscopes for our demanding markets and customers.

With the ongoing developments in physics and industry the requirements for performance of these TEM microscopes are continuously growing. In close cooperation with the TFS Advanced Technology Development group and several strategic collaboration partners, we are striving to define the most advanced concepts and turn them into real products, with the purpose to enable our customers to make the world cleaner, healthier and safer!

Team:

The Detection team is one of the Competence & Technology departments of TEM Solutions. The team consists of 20-25 enthusiastic engineers, specialized in detection– and imaging technology. The team is executing several projects supporting the company product- and technology roadmaps in the domains of imaging and chemical mapping of specimens in our Transmission Electron Microscopes. Part of the team is based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and another part is based in Brno, Czech Republic. The internship location is Brno.

Internship:

You will be part of an enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team and work on advanced imaging technology for our high-tech electron-microscope modules or sub-systems. The internship offers a great opportunity to work in an R&D environment and step into the world of image processing and image quality optimizations. You can implement your creative ideas into our image processing algorithms and tooling with the goal to obtain the best possible image performance and customer user experience. The internship will be supervised by one of our image quality specialists.

Your assignment covers the areas of image processing, modelling and automation by means of scripting:

Preparation of experimental scripts in Python and Matlab for image- processing and quality assessments.Modelling of critical camera- and detector performance parameters in TEM system perspective.Automation and optimization of TEM microscope control by means of scripting with the purpose to assess image quality.

Qualifications:

We encourage candidates with following qualifications to apply:

An ongoing Bachelor- or Master study in Physics/System Engineering/Electrical EngineeringEagerness to learn, taking initiative, having a pro-active attitude.Basic IT knowledge (preferably Linux)Basic knowledge of Python and Matlab scripting languagesGood level of spoken and written English.
