Imaging Assistant (SW)

Summary: Under the direction of the Lead Technologist, is responsible for assisting the CT, technologist with the performance of exams such as moving patient to exam table, positioning of patient, retrieving films and supplies, transporting of patient when necessary, obtaining patient information and screening of patient. Position involves interaction with various physician s offices and nursing floors and order entry into RIS (Radiology Information System). The Assistant must show clinical competence in direct patient care during CT procedures.
Education: High School. CNA (CT only).
Licensure: Current RI CNA license. CPR Certification Required.
Experience: 1 year experience as a CNA. Computer experience, medical terminology.
Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to follow complicated, diversified instructions.
• Take blood pressures and vital signs (CT Dept.) • Sterile Procedures (CT)
• Patient screening for contrast reactions, allergies, pace makers, or metal implants • Confirm with ordering physician or nursing floors that proper screening or lab forms have been completed
• Coordinate patient scheduling for in-patient exams.
• Assist with technical and quality control at beginning and end of shift • Review patient s record prior to and after the completed exam to ensure all required data is available for image interpretation.
• Transport patients, as needed, to nursing floors and other departments within the hospital • Order exams and track patients in hospital’s RIS.
• Coordinate lab work with other departments
• Assist in the coordination of the hospital s sedation process for biopsy patient by following the conscious sedation policy of the hospital.
• Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
