Imaging/Radiology RN  (Perdiem Day Shift)

An Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in supporting interventional radiologists during minimally invasive procedures. Below are some of the key responsibilities of an IR RN:

Patient Assessment and Preparation: Conduct pre-procedural assessments, including reviewing medical histories and current medications. Educate patients and their families about the procedures, including potential risks and benefits. Ensure patients provide informed consent. Prepare patients physically and emotionally for the procedure, including starting IV lines and administering pre-procedural medications. Assisting During Procedures: Assist the interventional radiologist in setting up and maintaining a sterile field. Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition throughout the procedure. Administer medications and contrast agents as directed by the radiologist. Post-Procedure Care: Monitor patients during recovery, checking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort. Educate patients and their families on post-procedural care and any necessary follow-up steps. Document the patient's condition and any notable changes in their medical records. Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless workflow. Communicate patient needs and concerns with the medical team promptly. Coordinate care with other departments, such as scheduling follow-up appointments or additional imaging studies. Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to any complications or emergencies that arise during or after the procedure. Use critical thinking skills to assess and intervene in a timely manner to stabilize patients. Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all procedures, patient interactions, and clinical notes. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulations, and best practice standards.

By performing these duties, Interventional Radiology RNs play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive safe, high-quality care during complex and often life-saving interventional procedures.
