SET THE COURSE

The Import and FTZ Specialist ensures timely and compliant processing of import and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) transactions for Tommy Bahama. Working closely with the Senior Manager of Imports, Logistics, and Distribution Center teams, this role focuses on U.S. Customs and FTZ compliance while supporting inventory accuracy and efficient goods flow.

The position also assists with export-related tasks such as Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings and in-bond documentation. Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, attention to detail, and coordination skills are essential.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Audit import files 5-days prior to arrival of shipments by verifying commercial documents to the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for accurate HTS numbers, Country of Origin, Manufacturer ID, valuation and other key attributes prior to product arrival to ensure accurate filing of the Foreign Trade Zone Customs transactions.Coordinate with buying agents to obtain missing documents, shipping details, and clarify outstanding issues.Work with freight forwarders to File Permits-to-Transfer 5 days in advance of shipment arrival when requiredSubmit Fish and Wildlife declarations (Form 3-177) 5 days prior to arrival; coordinate with FWS officers as needed.Support the Samples department by working with customs brokers to resolve clearance delays on sample shipments.Track and update shipment ETAs in the ERP system; communicate availability by working closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and local port authorities.Work with Local Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Cargo Security Officers or Automated Broker Interface (ABI) representative when required.Serve as backup to the Logistics Coordinator during absences or high-volume periods.Assist in filing electronic FTZ daily admissions (e214), verify acceptance in ABI, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Ensure that information concerning merchandise in admission documents is verified or corrected by counts and checks and is accurately recorded in the inventory and recordkeeping systems (ICRS). Collaborate with the receiving team to identify and report any carton discrepancies in shipments. Submit a Manifest Discrepancy Report (MDR) to U.S. Customs in the event of shortages.Reconcile stock balances daily between the ERP and FTZ systems.Be familiar with U.S. Customs requirements and regulations as they pertain to international shipping, such as filing Electronic Export Information filing (EEI) and In-Bond documents.Review ACE portal for improper use of TBG’s Importer of Record number and Export filings.Ensure compliance with 19 CFR Part 146 and other applicable U.S. import/export regulations.Audit freight and drayage invoices for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned to support operational efficiency.Willing to cross-train in other departments and assist where needed to support overall Distribution Center operations.Promote a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering strong relationships across all organizational levels.Ensure that warehouse safety standards are being met as outlined in Tommy Bahama’s Health and Safety Manual.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

Bachelor’s degree or 3 - 5 years’ equivalent work experience in logistics, import/export or Foreign Trade Zone operations.Knowledge of Foreign Trade Zone regulations under 19 CFR Part 146Understanding of import/export regulationsExperience working with Freight Forwarders and regulatory agencies preferredProficient in Microsoft Excel/Word and comfortable with Customs portal (e.g., ACE), and ERP systems.Experience supporting cross-functional teams, including Distribution, Finance, and TrafficWarehouse/Distribution related experience in apparel/hard goods preferred3+ years warehouse experience preferredStrong attention to detail with the ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety standards.Serves as a resource to team members, assisting with the resolution of problems, tasks, or issues as needed.Reliable, self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to follow instructions and contribute to team success.Effective communicator, with proficiency in both verbal direction and written communication.Performs well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines in coordination with management.Receptive to direction, consistently follows instructions with a positive and professional demeanor.Adaptable to new technologies and changing work environments.Demonstrates strong attendance, punctuality, and overall dependability.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $23.70 to $35.53 hourly
