In-Home Aide III SOURCE
**JOB PURPOSE:** Responsible for providing nursing care as directed by the manager and for supervising the program aid assigned to assist with nursing services. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:** 1. Supervise the program aide assisting with nurse care 2. Understand the needs of the elderly and, in particular, the needs of those affected by the cognitive impairments. 3. Be sensitive to the needs of family caregivers. 4. Be available to work unscheduled days and hours. 5. Make a commitment to cooperative performance to attain care, organization and programmatic objectives that may entail performing duties not included in the job description. 6. Observation of each participant and immediately reporting any changes in their condition to the manager. 7. Monitoring and recording routine vital signs and weights. 8. Provision of restorative or rehabilitative nursing service including bowel and bladder management and follow through of physical, occupational and/or speech therapies. 9. Provision of direction and assistance to program aides assisting with personal care, incontinency care and maintenance of supplies related to same. 10. Provision of prophylactic skin care to avoid breakdown 11. Provision of nail care. 12. Use of infection control/prevention techniques in the rendering of care. 13. Preparing daily diet order. 14. Direct day meal services to ensure participants receive meals prescribes by their attending physician. 15. Report inadequacies in dietary or fluid intake to the manager. 16. Assist in the provision of emergency care. 17. Check participant clothing, incontinency and personal care supplies and obtain same to ensure adequacy of amounts on hand. 18. Implement and monitor scheduled activities for program participants. 19. Assisting patients with ADLs (i.e. bathing, personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulation, eating) **LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:** 1. Certified by a licensed physician within 45 days of employment to be in good health including freedom from communicable diseases, including tuberculosis in the communicable form, according to acceptable screen methods of the Department of HRS. 2. Freedom from illegal drug use, and freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohols in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for the position. 3.
