Employment Counsel - EMEA

 

We are looking to expand our EMEA Employment legal team with the hire of an additional employment counsel for the region, reporting into the Legal Director, Employment, EMEA and APJ.

As a guideline, we are looking for someone 2+ years PQE – this could be suitable for someone looking to make their first move in-house.

A French legal background is preferred.

 

Your Impact

 

As an Employment Counsel at OpenText, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support across the spectrum of employment law for our operations in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). With a focus on international HR/employment matters, you will contribute to shaping a positive and legally compliant work environment for our employees globally.

 

What the Role Offers

 

- Challenging Responsibilities: Take charge of managing employment litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and advising on international HR matters.

- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with OpenText's local HR teams, external legal counsel, and multiple works councils/employee representative bodies across various European countries.

- Global Impact: Support corporate initiatives, such as cross-border mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and divestments, requiring international employment law expertise.

- Professional Growth: Thrive in a fluid environment, undertake diverse projects, and contribute to a dynamic legal team.

 

What You Need to Succeed

 

- Flexibility and Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, eager to explore new areas, and capable of undertaking projects in diverse fields.

- Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities without losing sight of the bigger picture.

- Client Orientation: Business-minded lawyer with a pragmatic, solution-driven sensibility and sound judgment.

- Academic Background: Strong academic credentials

- Legal Knowledge: Prior experience and knowledge in international individual and collective employment laws especially German laws would be advantageous (but not a pre-requisite).

- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills.

- Language Skills: Fluency in English; German language skills would be be a plus.
