In-Room Dining Captain

SUMMARY

The In-Room Dining captain is responsible for supervising the daily tasks of In-Room Dining Associates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties include; although are not limited to:

Conducting pre-shift meetings on a daily basisParticipating in ongoing training of Associates to ensure performance continues to improve and all hotel service standards are consistently being metRecognizing outstanding performance by service personnel and handling discipline as per hotel standard operating proceduresAssisting in ordering and maintaining par levels in the In-Room Dining departmentCompleting reports on production, filling out necessary requisitions and controlling distribution of necessary suppliesAssisting the In-Room Dining Manager with scheduling and controlling labor costsEnsuring proper set up of department area, making sure all mise en place is ready so that orders are not delayedInspecting daily set-up, presentation, and delivery of amenitiesControlling the order load of In-Room Dining ServersMaintaining proper condition and cleanliness of In-Room Dining area and assetsAssisting all other Associates and ensuring they are providing the highest level of customer serviceCommunicating with the kitchen regarding any special needs or requestsDelivering guest orders and amenities in a timely manner with 100% accuracyPerforming related duties as directed

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent education preferredOne (1) to two (2) years’ experience in In-Room Dining at an upscale hotel requiredTwo (2) to three (3) years’ experience in customer service preferredGood written and verbal communication skillsMust possess required state/local compliance certificationsMust be willing to participate in a learning environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires walking and standing most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours.  Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks. Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.
