Job DescriptionWe are seeking a world-class Technologist to lead the firmware development of a wide variety of advanced next-generation high performance Solid state drives. You will have demonstrated leadership ability executing complex programs and an understanding of the who, what and how of system development. You will have strong skills and experience in the storage industry including familiarization with embedded storage processors and storage protocols. This is a high-impact, high visibility opportunity for the right individual with superior technical skills, good project management abilities, and an enthusiasm for success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and develop firmware for solid state drive (SSD) products using C and C++Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams during all phases of product developmentDesign and develop debug infrastructure for enabling quick diagnosis of failuresDesign and develop applications to collect and analyze diagnostic data, debug logs and event dataProvide guidance to Quality Assurance teams for system level product test executionReview system and board level specifications to ensure all FW features, verification, and diagnostic requirements are feasible and properly incorporatedDevelop processes to identify embedded system design issues early in the product development lifecycleDrive issue resolution and product stability to enable predictable and high quality product developmentProvide mentorship to junior engineers as needed QualificationsBE or ME/M Tech degree in Computer/Electronics/Electrical/IT Engineering or related field12+ years of experience in embedded firmware developmentStrong programming experience and demonstrated proficiency in C/C++ for RTOS embedded systemsKnowledge of NAND flash and/or other non-volatile storage technologiesAbility to analyze complex firmware & hardware issuesStrong debugging skills using equipment such as logic analyzers and Protocol analyzersKnowledge of software design, real-time operating systems, and hardware-software interfacesIn-depth storage protocol experience including PCIe & NVMeDemonstrated ability in creative problem solving and innovationStrong team player, effective communication skills, and highly motivatedKnowledge of agile development and self-managed development teams from design to productionAdditional InformationWestern Digital thrives on the power and potential of diversity.
