The Incentive Compensation Management Application Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that calculate and manage sales commissions and incentive compensation plans, while ensuring accurate payouts. Works directly with end-¬users to coach and teach how to best use and utilize systems. Supports other technology initiatives as needed. Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
· Work with sales leadership, finance teams, and third party vendors to design and implement new incentive compensation plans.
· Configure plan parameters, including sales targets, commission rates, payout thresholds, and performance metrics.
· Update and maintain existing compensation plans based on business needs.
· Develop custom integrations with existing CRM systems (Salesforce) and other data sources to ensure accurate data flow.
· Implement complex compensation plan logic, including quota calculations, tiered commission structures, and performance-based incentives.
· Build the incentive compensation management application, including data models, calculations, and reporting features.
· Analyze sales performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement within incentive compensation plans.
· Generate detailed reports on sales rep commissions, plan effectiveness, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
· Develop custom dashboards to visualize sales performance and incentive compensation data.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
· Expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL).
· Knowledgeable of data warehousing and ETL processes.
· Deep understanding of sales compensation structures, including quota management, commission calculations, and incentive plan design.
· Knowledge of sales performance metrics and KPIs.
· Ability to analyze data and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
· Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams (sales, finance, and operations).
· Ability to clearly present complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
· Ability to use knowledge and experience to develop appropriate solution(s) for stakeholders.
· Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions.
· Ability to respond promptly to customer needs.
· Ability to adapt and manage frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
· Ability to follow instructions and responds to management direction, as well as takes responsibility for own actions.
· Ability to make sound and accurate judgment.
· Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, as well as looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
Industry and Work Experience:
· 3-5 years of experience in banking information services or equivalent experience in a similar industry.
· 3-5 years of experience as an incentive compensation application engineer, application administrator, or an equivalent role.
Academic:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field required.
