Job Title: Incident Management Technical Trainer

What You'll Do

As a NOC Incident Command and Skills Training Consultant, you will play a critical role in elevating the operational capabilities of IoT NOC team. You will design and deliver a comprehensive training program focused on incident command best practices and advanced technical skills development. By conducting workshops, hands-on labs, and real-world simulations, you will empower the team to handle incidents effectively, minimize downtime, and enhance overall network reliability. You will also evaluate current processes, identify gaps, and develop tailored incident response frameworks, playbooks, and runbooks to streamline workflows. Leveraging your expertise in incident management frameworks (such as ITIL or ICS) and NOC monitoring tools, you will provide practical guidance on troubleshooting, proactive monitoring, and stakeholder communication. Additionally, you will assess team progress, deliver actionable feedback, and leave behind a sustainable foundation for ongoing improvement. Your work will directly contribute to mission of maintaining a secure, high-performing, and highly available network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Training Development and Delivery

o Develop a customized incident command and NOC skills training program based on an initial assessment of the team’s maturity and needs.

o Deliver a blend of theoretical workshops, hands-on labs, and real-world simulations to enhance team capabilities.

o Provide practical training on NOC tools, monitoring platforms, and troubleshooting techniques.

2. Incident Command Training

o Teach incident management frameworks such as ITIL, NIST, or the Incident Command System (ICS).

o Train participants on effective communication strategies during incidents, including stakeholder updates, escalation management, and post-incident reporting.

o Facilitate tabletop exercises and full-scale simulations to test and improve incident response processes.

3. NOC Skills Training

o Enhance technical skills in areas such as network monitoring, log analysis, root cause analysis, and capacity planning.

o Train NOC staff in advanced use of monitoring and ticketing tools.

o Develop proactive monitoring strategies and optimize workflows for operational efficiency.

4. Documentation and Playbooks

o Update or create incident response playbooks and runbooks tailored to the team’s needs.

o Provide standardized templates for shift handoff documentation and incident reports.

5. Progress Evaluation and Recommendations

o Assess team progress through weekly evaluations and training assessments.

o Deliver a post-training report with actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

· Extensive experience in NOC operations, incident management, and technical training.

· In-depth knowledge of incident management frameworks such as ITIL, NIST, or ICS.

· Strong technical expertise in network monitoring, troubleshooting, and use of NOC tools (e.g., JIRA, AppD, Splunk, Grafana).

· Proven track record of delivering effective training programs for technical teams.

· Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

· Experience conducting hands-on labs, simulations, and crisis scenario exercises.

Preferred Qualifications:

· ITIL or similar certification in incident management or IT service management.

· Experience working in high-pressure environments such as large-scale NOCs, SOCs, or critical infrastructure organizations.

· Familiarity with automation, alerting, and proactive monitoring strategies.

· Strong understanding of shift management and handoff best practices.

Deliverables:

· Comprehensive training program tailored to the organization’s NOC team.

· Updated incident response frameworks, playbooks, and runbooks.

· Post-training evaluation report highlighting team progress and recommendations.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
