The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and direction to the executive team, directors, and staff of the Department of Human Services (DHS) to strategically plan for and obtain legislative, stakeholder, and organizational support for advancement and implementation of diversity and inclusion strategic priorities to create a workforce that promote access and more equitable outcomes for Minnesotans who receive publicly funded services. This person will coordinate with staff at all levels to assess equity and inclusion awareness and capacity, identify activities to build equity and inclusion, and support the implementation of those activities as all levels of the agency._ **Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:** + Exercise supervisor authority and responsibility so that applicable labor agreements and plans are equitably administered, and employees effectively perform job duties to achieve the annual objectives of the office. + Facilitate, support and manage staff activities surrounding agency-wide and external partner anti-racism training, communication and outreach. + Lead management and staff to develop policies, internal operations, and an organizational culture that are equitable and inclusive of input from employees, advocates, and clients from underrepresented communities. + Ensure Office for Equity and Inclusion is carrying out objectives laid out in DHS strategic plan, DHS’ Diversity & Inclusion strategic priorities, and activities of staff are advancing those objectives with their projects and planning. + Provide leadership and direction to Office for Equity and Inclusion staff to support agency wide strategy to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. **Minimum Qualifications** **_**To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**_** Demonstrated leadership experience * Leadership experience includes: + Experience as a supervisor, lead worker, team lead, project lead; OR + Completion of a State of Minnesota leadership program (e.g. ELI, L4); OR + A paid/unpaid position leading a program or chairing a committee (e.g. ERG) - experience must include: + 1+ year of experience identifying issues, goals and strategic actions + 100+ hours per year time commitment AND Four (4) years’ experience leading a large and diverse organization in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion related programs. Experience must include: + Championing equity, inclusion, and anti-racism by evaluating policies, procedures, and ideas to interrupt systemic racism and provide recommendations for improvement. + Experience with contemporary diversity, equity, inclusion and multiculturalism theories and issues. + Strategic planning, change management and project management. + Working with ethnically and culturally diverse communities, American Indian communities, people with disabilities, and other communities that experience inequities. + Influencing/directing goals, objectives, or policy and/or influencing decision makers/policymakers. + Experience supporting and advising teams; coordinate training and staff development; meeting facilitation. **Preferred Qualifications** + Advanced communication (written and verbal) skills. + Cultural knowledge from lived experience and/or education on BIPOC experiences. + Strong project management and organizational skills. + Proven ability to multitask and prioritize work efficiently and effectively. + Respect and passion for Diversity and Inclusion. + Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external entities. + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures. **Additional Requirements** REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS – DHS will conduct reference checks to verify job-related credentials and a criminal background check prior to appointment.
