GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
To support our goals as an industry leader, we are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Legal & Compliance team. The candidate will be responsible for providing contract review and management services across India and EMEA regions. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the legal review of documents, proof reading & redlining, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation, as well as managing the relationship with internal legal partners .
The candidate should be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting business and legal team across India, UK and USA. The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role. Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
+ Contract Review
+ Read and assess legal documents, (drafting, redlining and negotiations of Standard as well as Client documents, primarily NDAs but may also include RFPs and other standard client facing documents)
+ Proactively identify potential legal issues and risks in various transactions and escalate where required.
+ Complete projects and assignments according to communicated timelines
+ Manage timely completion of multiple requests, adjust and reprioritize according to changing needs with minimal oversight of seniors.
+ Be sensitive to client deadlines - Effortlessly manage deadlines without delivery delays.
+ Implement training plans and manuals, process maps and SOPs.
+ Have good judgment skills pertaining to escalation and raising issues internally and with clients
+ Experience in client management of US and UK based clients, including the ability to manage escalations relating to submitted work
+ Contract Support
+ Contract process & workflow management
+ Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction
+ Provide exceptional customer service for existing and prospective clients
+ Effectively shares knowledge with colleagues and strives to develop one’s own knowledge and skills
+ Identify and communicate gaps in current policies, procedures and processes.
+ Prompt to spot/address/escalate issues that aren’t substantive issues (e.g. a workflow problem or suggestion; substantive issues)
+ Adds value to clients' tracking and reporting processes
+ Hands-on experience in reviewing and quality checking contracts of all complexity (NDAs, consulting agreements, IP agreements, sale-side and procurement-side contracts, master services agreements, lease agreements, licensing contracts, etc.), including third party contract reviews
+ Comprehends the project and the subject matter – understands the overall purpose of the review and the needs of the clients. .
+ Ability to collaborate and network with others to meet the business needs, with sound understanding of business and client work; strong interpersonal skills
+ Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines, interruptions, and multiple tasks/projects occurring at once
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED :
+ Able to prioritize daily workload and respond to requests promptly and accurately
+ Experience in handling sensitive information and supporting senior level managers or leaders
+ Attentive to details and strong follow-up skills
+ Dependable with strong work ethic
+ Additional qualifications include excellent analytical, organizational and planning abilities, solid communication and management skills, creativity and initiative
+ Encourages teamwork, maintains positive attitude contributing to team morale.
+ Microsoft Office skills: Intermediate to Advanced Word, PowerPoint and Excel
+ Some experience in negotiating directly with counter-party for low to mid-level contracts
+ Clear on complex contractual concepts, good exposure to corporate and commercial laws.
+ Stakeholder Management-Ability to collaborate and network with others to meet the business needs, with sound understanding of business and client work; strong interpersonal skills
+ Good writing and proof-reading skills, including the rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
+ Background of contract review or other transactional legal work
+ Previous work experience in insurance sector and/or professional and consultancy services will be preferred (human resources outsourcing, pension, investment consulting, pension administration, health and benefits consulting, insurance broking).
