Indirect Category Manager

ASSA ABLOY has just opened an Indirect Category Manager’s position. This role will be based 100% on-site out of out Curries brand located in Mason City Iowa or our regional manufacturing facility (Service Center) located in Mesquite, Texas.

What you will be doing as our Indirect Category Manager?

You will manage and optimize indirect spend categories across the Door Group. Responsibilities include developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, and identifying new technologies and cost-saving measures. The role also includes developing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements for the assigned categories.

You will also:

Build strong partnerships to enhance performance and drive transparency through business reviews

Stay informed on market trends, suppliers, and category competencies.

Analyze spend, consolidate purchases, and mitigate risks.

Develop and manage category strategies, evaluating suppliers, products, and technologies for cost, safety, and quality improvements.

Create category plans and benchmark against industry standards.

Collaborate across teams to drive innovation and best practices.

Negotiate agreements aligned with safety, sustainability, and strategic goals, ensuring compliance and Intellectual Property protection.

Collaborate with procurement, operations, engineering, safety, and suppliers to conduct innovation workshops and leverage expertise.

Lead supplier selection, qualification, and RFX processes. Evaluate proposals and set delivery terms.

Adhere to ASSA ABLOY Sourcing Guidelines, including Terms and Conditions, NDA, and Code of Conduct during supplier selection and sourcing processes.

Maintain positive and professional relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities/project as required 

Promote a safe work environment by following safety regulations and participating in safety programs.

Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct

 

The skills and experience you need:

Bachelor’s in supply chain, engineering, business, or related field (MBA preferred).

3+ years of experience within supply chain, procurement, or engineering coupled with experience with indirect spend, strategic sourcing, cost-saving initiatives, and supplier management.

Previous experience and skilled in contract development, review, and negotiation.

Understanding of market trends, best practices, and supply chain risk management.

Strong project management, prioritization, and multi-site corporate experience.

Comfortable in a manufacturing environment with cross-functional collaboration.

Strong communication, presentation, relationship-building, and decision-making aligned with business strategy.

Highly motivated with strong commercial, project management, and prioritization skills.

Strong negotiation and contract development skills.

Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work autonomously or in teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Ability to travel by all methods up to 40%, including international trips.
