We are looking for an Indirect Tax Accountant to drive our global indirect tax function and make impactful improvements in the indirect tax compliance processes. In this role, you’ll be a key financial professional responsible for ensuring indirect tax compliance across the Company’s large international footprint. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including external tax advisors, to maintain accurate indirect tax compliance. Successful candidates will possess a combination of strong indirect tax knowledge and an ability to dive into unknown problems and devise solutions. This position will report to the Director of Tax. The successful candidate will have a "roll-up-the-sleeves'' attitude, be able to multitask and be willing to learn and thrive in a very fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support for the global indirect tax compliance process through the preparation and review of work papers and calculations required for the external preparation and filing of VAT returns.
Provide support for the month and quarter-end close process, including recording indirect tax entries, and preparing account reconciliations and roll forwards
Prepare monthly US indirect tax filings, including but not limited to sales tax, use tax, exemption certificates, gross receipts, and property tax. Prepare tax returns using Avalara software.
Assist with indirect tax audits globally; communicate internally indirect tax audit issues and exposures
Advise business teams on indirect tax matters globally
Ensure timely and accurate filings to minimize assessments and penalties. Monitor applicable pre-payments and credits
Resolve notices and outstanding tax issues
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA license (or equivalent)
4+ years of indirect tax experience
IFRS and other local GAAP experience preferred
Proactive work ethic, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong organization, time management, and project management skills
Agility to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication skills to effectively communicate complex indirect tax concepts
Ability to work cross-functionally to obtain all relevant facts, understand the business requirements, articulate the indirect tax requirements, and communicate the conclusions reached
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with NetSuite and Avalara software preferred, although not required
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets skills required
Compensation Statement
The U.S. annual compensation range for this full-time position is between $76,500 and $131,000 USD/year. This range represents the annual base salary. Actual offers may be higher or lower than this range based on various factors, including (but not limited to) the candidate’s work location, job-related skills, experience, and education.
