Job Details Job ID: 4976266 Job Description Position Title: Induction Coach Reports To: Director of Teaching and Learning Purpose: The Induction Coach supports the development and success of initially licensed teachers by providing individualized coaching, guidance, and resources. This role focuses on building foundational classroom management and instructional skills to foster confidence and ensure a successful transition into the teaching profession. The Induction Coach also provides professional learning, guidance, and support to peer mentors. Qualifications: + Minimum of three years of teaching experience, with the most recent year in the Urbandale Community School District. + Proven ability to effectively collaborate and support peers in a positive manner. + Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. + Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. + Proven record of implementing instructional practices that fosters a culture of dignity & belonging. Essential Responsibilities: + Individualized Coaching for Initial Teachers: + Provide one-on-one coaching and support to initially licensed teachers, helping them develop classroom management, instructional strategies, and student engagement skills. + Offer ongoing feedback and guidance to ensure a smooth transition into the teaching profession. + Observe classroom instruction and provide actionable feedback that supports continuous growth in teaching practices. + Professional Learning for Initial Teachers: + Design and deliver professional learning sessions (New Teacher Academy, Beginning Teacher Learning Community) focused on the foundational skills new teachers need to succeed in their first years, such as lesson planning, instructional delivery, and student behavior management. + Collaborate with new teachers to identify areas for growth and provide resources and strategies tailored to their individual needs. + Foster reflective practice among new teachers to encourage ongoing professional growth and the development of effective teaching habits. + Support for Peer Mentors: + Provide guidance and resources to peer mentors, helping them support initially licensed teachers effectively. + Facilitate professional learning opportunities for peer mentors, focusing on mentorship best practices, coaching techniques, and the use of data to guide support. + Serve as a resource and liaison between new teachers and their peer mentors to ensure aligned support and development strategies. + Collaboration and Professional Growth: + Collaborate with school leadership and other teacher leaders to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting new teachers. + Stay current with best practices in teacher induction, coaching, and instructional strategies, sharing new insights with mentors and teachers. + Support the development of instructional practices, ensuring new teachers have the skills to create inclusive, supportive learning environments for all students.
