SUMMARY

The Industrial Burner Technician is a specialized professional responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial burner systems. These systems are critical in various settings where precise control of heat and combustion is essential, such as manufacturing plants, refineries, power generation facilities, and commercial boilers.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Industrial Burner Service Technician performs work on burners (gas, oil, methane, propane and other), boiler controls, feedwater units, pumps, valves, softeners and all related system equipment and components. 

The industrial Burner Service Technician will work in our Industrial Burner Division related to projects & services including, but not limited to:

Installation:

Setup and Configuration: Installing new burner systems according to manufacturer specifications and engineering drawings. Integration: Connecting burners to fuel supplies, electrical systems, and any associated control panels or automation systems.

Maintenance:

Routine Inspections: Performing regular inspections to ensure burners are operating efficiently and safely. Cleaning and Calibration: Cleaning burner components, adjusting settings, and calibrating controls for optimal performance. Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues related to burner operation, such as fuel flow problems, ignition issues, or control system malfunctions.

Repair:

Diagnostic Testing: Using diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint problems with burner components. Replacement: Replacing faulty or worn-out parts, such as burners, fuel nozzles, igniters, or sensors. Testing and Validation: Conducting tests after repairs to ensure burners are functioning correctly and meeting safety standards.

Compliance and Safety:

Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring burner systems comply with safety regulations and environmental standards. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Training: Providing training and guidance to operators on proper burner operation and maintenance practices.

Emergency Response:

On-call Duty: Being available for emergency repairs and troubleshooting outside of regular working hours. Quick Response: Responding promptly to critical failures to minimize downtime and production losses.

Other:

 

The position may be required to assist in the facilitation of any boiler, HVAC, or other services.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

 

Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) to five (5) years of documentable mechanical/electrical troubleshooting. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of industrial burner systems, combustion principles, and related equipment. Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions under pressure. Mechanical Skills: Proficiency in using tools and equipment for maintenance and repair tasks. Safety Consciousness: Strong awareness of safety protocols and regulations governing industrial operations. Communication: Clear communication skills to interact with colleagues, clients, and vendors effectively. Detail-Oriented: Thoroughness in inspection, documentation, and compliance with standards. Product/Process knowledge in the following areas:  Burners and Gas Train components  Boiler Controls  Electrical components, including motors, solenoids, relays, switches, etc.  Mechanical fluid system components
