Aquarion Water Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eversource. Job Summary A position is available in the Supply Operations Mystic Territory group for an Industrial Controls Electrician. The successful candidate will be routinely engaged in the installation, problem solving and upgrading of equipment at various facilities that supply, treat, pump, store and distribute water through the company’s service area (primarily within the Mystic territory). A complete understanding of electrical theory, electronics, industrial control systems and instruments shall be maintained with yearly training in both electrical licensing and instrumentation certification. The position requires overtime to respond to electrical/control system emergencies during evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional overtime for routine work is not required but may be authorized. Electrical Responsibilities + + Must be able to assemble and install all types of new or repaired electrical circuits, systems, instrumentation, and equipment, including but not limited to motors, regulators, controllers, generators, and switches. + Inspects electrical equipment and machinery, diagnoses faulty operation, determines proper corrective action, documents in SAP maintenance scheduling program, and makes indicated repairs. Makes meggar, voltmeter, ammeter, ground locating and other electrical tests. Possesses working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and switchgear. Must know underwriter codes, national codes, state and local codes, company rules and regulations and comply with them. + Keeps abreast of the latest types of electrical control, motor AC/DC Drive, (VFD) Variable Frequency Drives. + Document all electrical changes by red-line plant drawings and notify the Control System Services Group with a copy of said changes. Ensure that all wires and devices in / outside panels are labeled. Assist maintenance personnel with proper electrical symbols & check drawings marked up for accuracy. Ensure electrical panels have up to date drawings and are accurate. + Inspects machinery and equipment while in operation, diagnosing faulty operation, if any, lubricating it, and making such adjustments or repairs as are necessary to keep the equipment in operation. + Maintains, inspects, lubricates, and repairs as necessary the following plant systems: Water system, including softener, pumps, towers, and filtering equipment; compressed air system, including compressors, valves, filters, separators, and controls; HVAC systems, including units, filters, washers, vaporizers, and fans; gas and propane systems, plant drainage and sewage disposal system. + Excellent diagnostic skills are required as situations can be complex and non-recurring. Must be able to identify recurring and non-recurring operating conditions and maintenance needs requiring adjustment. Control System Responsibilities + + Uses hand and power tools of all kinds and a variety of measuring and testing instruments. + Monitor, repair, maintain, test, and troubleshoot field instrumentation and control systems. + Work collaboratively with the Control System Services group in preparing O&M budgets, SOP’s, and review of equipment selections, estimates, and other technical related issues for system or facility improvement projects. + Coordinates and leads/guides in jobs, assignments and projects that require the involvement of other Supply Operations departments. + Performs first-line diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairing of analog and digital equipment to the component level. Serves as system control and engineering technician liaison with Supply Ops staff, consultants, and contractors. + Sets up, installs, and maintains System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, radios, and process control automation. Utilizes network technology with desktop and laptop computers and SCADA systems to acquire data, control and monitor systems. Performs other related duties at the discretion of the manager. + Configure, commission, troubleshoot & startup any AC/DC Drive, any Human Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or Distributive Control System (DCS) with assistance from the SCADA Services Group. + Install, calibrate, document, loop check, and troubleshoot process control systems comprised of Transmitters, Controllers, Valves, PLC’s VFD’s and Water Quality Analyzers. + Based on field experience help system integrators and engineers to review and design new systems to enhance present and future control systems. + Build PLC and control panels and shop test prior to field installation. + Perform electrical and mechanical work necessary to install instruments. General/Mechanical Responsibilities + + Mentor junior level technicians. + Work collaboratively with water treatment and distribution system operators, and Supply Ops Electrical and Mechanical personnel. + Coordinates and leads/guides in jobs, assignments and projects that require the involvement of other Supply Ops departments. Develops and institutes procedures and plans associated with routine and emergency repairs. + Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and demonstrate proficiency in typical electrical assignments. + Operate a variety of electrical and mechanical tools safely. + Maintains, inspects, lubricates, and repairs as necessary the following plant systems: Water system, including softener, pumps, towers, and filtering equipment; compressed air system, including compressors, valves, filters, separators, and controls; HVAC systems, including units, filters, washers, vaporizers, and fans; gas and propane systems, plant drainage and sewage disposal systems. + Inspects machinery and equipment while in operation, diagnosing faulty operation, if any, lubricating it, and making such adjustments or repairs as are necessary to keep the equipment in operation. Preferred Requirements + Strong customer service, project management, electrical and mechanical skills. + Ability to instruct and train junior level personnel in the maintenance of plant instrumentation and control system. + Knowledge of computer software. + Problem Solving: (Situations are identical; similar; differing; variable; non-recurring). Can identify recurring and non-recurring operating conditions and maintenance needs requiring adjustment. + Accountability: (Assist others, share responsibility, fully responsible, direct others. Also, if applicable, state dollar volume of assets controlled, and number of people supervised, directly and indirectly). Education/Certifications + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Valid Connecticut driver’s license is required. + A current Connecticut Electrician’s License (E2/E3) and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a licensed electrician required. + ISA Certification, preferred. + A current Connecticut Electrician’s License (E1), preferred. + License & Certifications: Successful candidate shall obtain a CT TI Certification within 24 months. Salary + This position is classified as a Non-Union Hourly Grade 10 position with a rate range that has a training wage of $41.63/hour. + Successful candidate will move through Step 1 through 8 of the range with satisfactory performance to the maximum salary. + This position is broken into 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Flexible start time between 7:00AM and 9:00AM, with a 30-minute non-paid lunch period. + This position can report to any office in the Mystic territory, either in Stonington, CT or Plainville, CT.
