Industrial Electrician

SUMMARY

Electrical, instrumentation, and controls technical lead for the electrical maintenance department.   Continually works with other plant team members to keep the facility operating safely and effectively.  

 

 

Principal Duties:

 

Leads, assists, trains, and performs duties of Sr. Electrical Control Persons in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant electrical equipment. Works from information obtained from engineering drawings, electrical diagrams, simple and complex sketches, other related documents and verbal field instructions needed to perform assigned duties.  Designs and implements modifications to existing equipment or systems under development.  Updates drawing or documentation as required. Performs standard electrical work including but not limited to soldering, predictive maintenance, preventative maintenance, running conduit, attending training, PLC programming, etc. Analyze, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance/repairs of all plant electrical systems including, but not limited to, programmable controllers, air conditioning, combustion systems, Sub Stations, MCC’s, motors, computers, plant network, etc. Diagnoses and insures correction of complex electrical/instrumentation/control problems. Able to work from a planned work order process and work from a reactive basis.  Completes records, reports, job summaries, CMMS updating, responsible for SAP duties. Performs inventory and cataloging of spare parts (including, but not limited to, determining whether a part is needed minimum/maximum levels, locating vendor catalog numbers, etc.).  Assists in maintaining electrical supplies.  Actively participates in the safety, communication process, continuous improvement, and good housekeeping programs as established within the plant. Performs other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed by supervision. Possess working knowledge of the Maintenance Work Order System. Complete work as instructed in Work Orders along with associated paperwork and any additional maintenance tasks, obtain assistance as needed. Ensures smooth transition of work handoffs as well as communication between shifts in all parts of the operation. Coordinates and implements continuous improvement ideas to improve overall workflow. Rebuild complex mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps, fiberizers, etc. Perform complex rebuilds of and modify all plant systems and individual equipment. Perform welding and basic pipefitting as well as hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting and repairs.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

Process control and HMI Ownership (new development limited scope) Owner of all PLC’s, panel views, drives/software, programs, organization, etc. Owner of PC’s that drive production and maintenance equipment Onspec/Ignition ownership PLC programming Panel View Programming Drive Configuration/Troubleshooting Owner/Expert of all plant medium voltage equipment.  Execution of substation maintenance. Includes, transformer cleaning, testing, 12kv switch cleaning, testing, circuit breaker testing.  Organization with SVP, contractors, etc. Instrument Shop Ownership Technical Library organization, updates, etc.  Project/Capital project new equipment documentation/manuals Test equipment organization, calibrations, “tools” to do instrument work.  Owner of specialty shop supplies Technical Resource and Training Lead for electrical department

 

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

The employee should have the following:

 

 

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required 5 years Related experience and/or training in an industrial environment Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States Must be drug and alcohol free Certified Journeyman Electrician Passes Electrical Controls Test with a 75% or higher score. Must have to ability to do complex mathematical calculations Must be able to secure and maintain fork lift drivers license Must know how to operate a computer fluently Must have medium voltage and below experience Must have extensive knowledge of PLC’s, HMI’s, VFD’s, etc Must have supervisory experience. Must have operational mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics and robotics knowledge
