Job Summary: The Electrician is responsible for performing various skilled, semi-skilled, and manual work functions associated with installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Education & Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age to perform this job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs various skilled, semi-skilled and manual work functions associated with installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment such as troubleshooting electrical problems, reviewing and commenting on electrical wiring/systems, installing electrical circuits, replacing breakers and fuses, replacing defective wiring, removing/installing breaker panels and covers, installing/replacing indoor/outdoor lighting fixtures, installing electrical receptacles/switches, repairing/wiring electrical motors, installing/maintaining exhaust fan/systems, running wires/cables, bending conduit, changing ballasts or replacing bulbs/batteries. Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components; inspects/tests machinery, equipment and parts for proper operations; makes adjustments, repairs or replacements as appropriate; reports problem situations. Installs, repairs, replaces and maintains a variety of electrical fixtures, systems, equipment and related components in compliance with applicable codes. Operates a variety of machinery, equipment and tools associated with installing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems and fixtures. Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning project work areas, and cleaning shop, monitoring equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety, and reporting faulty equipment. Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals. Approximate travel required: 40% Supply own basic tools. Specialty tools will be supplied. Responds to emergency calls. Other duties may be required as assigned

 

Education:

High School diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or the combination of vocational/technical training in electrical systems and practical experience

 

Experience:

2 years of industrial process experience and/ or training that includes installations, repair and maintenance of electrical systems

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with teammates in and outside of the maintenance department. Interdepartmental collaboration is required. Strong partnering skills required. Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; maintains a clean and organized work environment. Quantity - Meets productivity standards; Completes work in a timely manner; Strives to increase productivity. Safety - Observes all safety procedures and policies; Reports potentially unsafe conditions to supervisor; Uses equipment and materials properly. Good attention to detail. Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.
