Industrial Engineer
**Description** The Capabilities, Analysis and Development (CAD) division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) has an opportunity for an outstanding **Industrial Engineer** with experience identifying, characterizing, and assessing the structure and operation of civil, military, and industrial facilities, some of which are clandestine. This position supports defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific / engineering research, capability / limitation analysis, reverse engineering analysis / characterizations, facility and vulnerability assessments. This position collaboratively integrates analytic results findings of production with other related analytic efforts and assessments. Analyzes and estimates designs, specifications, technical requirements, and structural elements for control systems and infrastructure for nuclear, chemical, and biological facilities/infrastructure. Estimate and analyze power monitoring and control, energy management monitoring and control, the transport network and various required hardware, components, software and applications to ensure an industrial production or refinement of target materials/capabilities. Analyze Foreign Defense Critical Infrastructure to evaluate the requirement and capability of control systems, identify vulnerabilities and threats. This position is contingent upon customer funding with an anticipated start date in January 2025. **Required Qualifications:** + Master’s degree with 8+ years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience + Demonstrate current familiarity – experience within the last two years – augmenting defense analytical requirements with enhanced scientific / engineering research and analysis, characterizations, facility, and vulnerability assessments + Practical experience in industrial engineering with familiarity in one or more sub-disciplines of environmental, power system, pipeline, petroleum, structural, manufacturing, geotechnical, transportation, highway, material science, seismic / earthquake, construction, hydrology, and water resource engineering + Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills + Experience solving DoD or Industry industrial engineering problems + Ability to communicate complex technical analyses at a level comprehensible to diverse military audiences and senior-level government representatives + Must be a US Citizen + Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take and pass polygraph examination **Desired Qualifications:** + Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience OR a Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience + Familiarity with state nuclear, biological, and/or chemical (NBC) programs, strategic weapons developments, and WMD-related proliferation and procurement + Understanding of the Defense Intelligence Enterprise, DIA, and Service intelligence production centers + Experience effectively devising, utilizing, and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets + Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning and functional defeat of hard targets and underground facilities + Familiarity working with S&T analytic centers within the DOD, IC and/or Interagency **COMPANY INFORMATION:** Applied Research Associates, Inc. is an employee-owned international research and engineering company recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences.
