As an Industrial Engineering Intern at Danfoss, you will support a variety of process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and meet future growth demands. Your primary responsibilities will include developing value stream maps for both current and future states, evaluating areas for waste reduction, and analyzing processes to improve factors such as waiting times, operator movement, and parts handling. You will assist in balancing processes to accommodate fluctuations in customer demand, improving cell design, and ensuring compliance with IATF standards through proper documentation. Additionally, you will contribute to time studies, support continuous improvement initiatives, validate spare part kits against BOM, and assist in implementing 5S principles to streamline workplace organization and safety.
This is a year-round internship, located onsite at our facility in Tallahassee, Florida.
Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this position include but are not limited to, the following:
o Consistently comply with all Danfoss safety standards
o Develop value stream map for current and future state
o Evaluate areas for improvement
o Evaluate the current process for waste such as waiting time, operator movement, parts handling, and organizing items in the workplace
o Help validate requirements to support future growth projections
o Balance processes, accounting for fluctuation in customer demand
o Evaluate and improve cell design
o Lead documentation effort on current processes in compliance with IATF standards
o Validate physical spare part kits against BOM
o Time studies
o Support continuous improvement ideas and implementation
o Implement and Support 5S initiatives
o Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly workplace.
o Understanding and complying with quality policy, procedures, and instructions to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, attainment of business goals, and environmental well-being.
Required Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
O Student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, in senior year, or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
o Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
o Proficiency in CAD design software such as AutoCAD or CREO
Other Competencies:
o Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
o Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and demanding environment are required.
