To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineering Intern (Process Layout Support) located in our Milpitas, CA site.
Reporting to the Sr. Industrial Engineering and Business Excellence Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern who is currently pursuing a Master's degree to join our team. This internship will focus on layout creation and process flow representation, utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in industrial engineering principles, experience with layout design, and a passion for process improvement.
What a typical day looks like:
Develop and design facility layouts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to optimize space utilization and workflow efficiency.Create detailed 2D and 3D representations of current layouts to visualize existing processes and identify areas for improvement.Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to gather requirements and constraints for layout design.Analyze and document current process flows, ensuring accurate representation in layout designs.Utilize process mapping techniques to illustrate workflows and identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.Prepare visual aids and presentations to communicate current processes and proposed changes to stakeholders.Conduct assessments of existing layouts and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.Develop proposals for layout modifications and process enhancements aimed at increasing efficiency and productivity.Present improvement proposals to management and cross-functional teams, incorporating feedback and suggestions.Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand operational needs and constraints related to layout and process flow.Participate in brainstorming sessions and workshops to generate ideas for layout optimization and process improvements.Document all design changes and improvement proposals for future reference and implementation.Prepare detailed reports summarizing layout designs, process flow analyses, and proposed improvements.Maintain accurate records of design iterations, stakeholder feedback, and final proposals.Utilize data visualization techniques to enhance understanding of layout and process changes.Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
MS level student, currently pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related majorProficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for layout design and process representation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.Internship Program Requirements:
