To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add an Industrial Engineering Inter (Time & Motion Studies) located in our Milpitas, CA site.
Reporting to the Sr. Industrial Engineering and Business Excellence Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern who is currently pursuing a Master's degree to join our team. This internship will focus on operative methods, time and motion studies, ergonomic assessments, and the application of methodologies such as MOST (Maynard Operation Sequence Technique) and MODAPTS (Modular Arrangement of Predetermined Time Standards). The ideal candidate will also have experience with AutoCAD for layout design and process optimization.
What a typical day looks like:
Assist in analyzing and developing operative methods to improve efficiency and productivity in manufacturing and operational processes.Collaborate with engineering teams to document current methods and identify areas for improvement.Conduct time and motion studies to gather data on work processes and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.Utilize MOST and MODAPTS methodologies to establish time standards and improve workflow.Analyze study results and prepare reports summarizing findings and recommendations.Perform ergonomic assessments of workstations and processes to ensure safety and comfort for employees.Identify ergonomic risks and recommend modifications to reduce strain and improve overall workplace ergonomics.Collaborate with health and safety teams to implement ergonomic solutions.Utilize AutoCAD to create and modify layout designs that optimize workflow and space utilization.Develop detailed drawings and schematics to support process improvements and ergonomic assessments.Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet operational requirements and constraints.Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights related to operative methods and ergonomic practices.Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to discuss findings and propose solutions.Communicate effectively with stakeholders to present study results and improvement recommendations.Prepare detailed reports documenting time and motion study results, ergonomic assessments, and proposed improvements.Maintain accurate records of methodologies used, data collected, and outcomes achieved.Utilize data visualization techniques to enhance understanding of findings and recommendations.Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
MS level student, currently pursuing degree in Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics or related major Familiarity with time and motion study methodologies, including MOST and MODAPTS.Basic understanding of ergonomic principles and assessment techniques.Proficiency in AutoCAD for layout design and process optimization.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.Internship Program Requirements:
