Job Description:
The Post Solutions Engineering Team is a part of the Industrial Engineering department within the UPS Healthcare Business Unit.
The team serves a lead role within the engineering group to support customer implementations, large scale projects, and technology
deployments.
We are seeking a qualified, motivated individual to join our team of engineers to implement new business, account renewals, resolutions,
and organic growth projects in Healthcare/GMP facilities for North America. As part of the team, you will complete data
analysis, create operating plans, complete IT configurations, and design facility layouts for clients with ambient, cooler, freezer,
controlled substance, and dangerous goods storage and distribution. You will also utilize proprietary tools in designing labor &
validating financial models to support receiving, put-away, pick, pack, and ship functions along with special pack out and value
added services (VAS) requirements for cold chain and DEA regulated product.
The individual will be responsible for complex projects applying work measurement, methods and procedures, operations research,
finance, information system modeling, statistical analysis, project management, and layout development in a distribution
environment to perform their role. This position coordinates work with other engineers, cross functional teams, and customers to
ensure (internal/external) expectations are met while achieving expected financial returns for UPS.
Responsibilities:
Participates in business review and planning meetings, works with the operations management team to implement solutions, and conduct follow-upParticipates in the implementation of a project; provides timely, thorough, and concise updates for area of responsibility; identifies areas of risk and properly communicates them to the project managerLeads/Participates in internal and external solutions reviews seeking feedback and/or approvalPerforms gap analyses between solution and post implementation operating resultsActs as liaison to UPS functional groups to coordinate key issues in fulfillment network plansResolves conflicts and clarifies communications with UPS stakeholders to maintain program alignment with corporate goalsAids with project deliverables to ensure budget and timelines are metAssists with validation of planned versus actual task completion to determine project impactsUtilizes work measurement, gap analysis, statistical analysis, discussions with management, and operations visits to identify issues impacting the achievement of performance and service goalsIncorporates healthcare regulatory and industry knowledge when implementing a new solutionWrites proposals, contract documents and responses via Visio and WordLeads team process improvement initiativesHelps train new team members and potential for direct reports (Interns, Co-Ops)Utilizes knowledge, technology investigation to provide the best return on investment for our clientsProject management skills and communication, time management and organizational skillsQualifications:
Demonstrates knowledge of physical asset design; identifies problems or issues with current physical assets; modifies or adjusts existing physical asset designs; recommends physical asset specificationsDemonstrates experience with technology including but not limited to AMRs, AGVs, conveyance types, robotic arms, scanners, put walls, etc.Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare logistics and distribution including cold chain, controlled substance, and dangerous goods storage and processingDemonstrates experience with healthcare clients including pharmaceuticals, medical device, nutraceuticals, animal health, and vaccinesDemonstrates understanding of implementation objectives, project planning, and one's role within a projectDemonstrates knowledge of common financial terms and calculationsDemonstrates an understanding and use of grammatical rules; expresses ideas clearly and concisely; explains the relationship of effective writing to business objectivesIdentifies/creates routine and complex work methods/processes/flows to analyze; describes the basic steps in analysis of data related to people, technology, or informationProficiency in MS Office (Excel, Access, Teams, OneNote, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) & AutoCADExperience in Industrial Engineering and implementations (4 to 6 years’ experience preferred)Bachelor's degree or international equivalent in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related fieldUnderstanding of warehouse management system (WMS) design and functionalityAdditional Information for Internal Candidates:
