Our focus is reducing the environmental risk posed by 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste stored in 177 underground tanks on the Hanford Site located in Richland, WA. WRPS seeks an outgoing and team focused Industrial Hygienist to support implementation and maintenance of the Industrial Hygiene programs across the organization. This position is for an Industrial Hygienist in the Technical Integration organization and reports to the IH Technical Integration Manager. This individual, while working independently, performs program implementation and strategic planning serving as the central point of contact for multiple IH programs. Personnel are responsible for working in multidisciplinary team environments, using excellent written and verbal skills to support the Industrial Hygiene (IH) technical processes. The Industrial Hygienist responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Prepares rules, standards, and procedures as necessary to promote the healthful conduct of all work practices and the prevention of hazardous or nuisance exposure to the surrounding community. * Assists supervision in educating employees on practices, precautions, and procedures established. * Assists management in compliance with technical and regulatory requirements. * Conduct regulatory and gap analysis reviews of present and proposed standards. * Conduct assessment of IH programs and field implementation; provides written reports of findings with recommendations for improvement (where needed); and follows up on implementation. * Under administrative direction, incorporates conventional and advanced IH practices for the assigned facility or programmatic area. * Applies IH activities such as integrating or complying with complicated technical requirements or application of new processes. * Provides IH consultation for challenging coordination or oversight requirements requiring problem solving and programmatic planning where only general objectives are given. * Coordinates the monitoring of workplace environments by analyzing work operations and processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees; measures the magnitude of exposure to workers of all environmental hazards by selecting or devising methods and instrumentation suitable for such measurements; and presents specific conclusions and recommendations to appropriate management groups. * Performs advanced predictive assessments of work exposures. * Designs and conducts comprehensive exposure monitoring strategies. * Perform other duties as assigned. Please Note: This position is being advertised under the current Tank Operations Contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS). However, now that transition activities have begun a candidate selected for employment may be hired under the incoming contractor, Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) contract. Required Qualifications Grade 20: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health or related physical or biological science and 10 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Grade 21: Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health, Occupational Health or related physical or biological science and 12 years related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is significantly larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Desired Qualifications * Safety or Health certification preferred (CIH, CSP, etc.). * Prior experience working within a DOE complex * Understands and applies advanced technical knowledge base of IH regulations, standard concepts, practices, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of pertinent IH practices and applications. * Experience working with analytical equipment, troubleshooting and theory of operations. * Proficient in Microsoft office Suite * Past experience developing presentation materials and conveying technical information both electronically and in person to multiple group sizes and at various levels of an organization Compensation & Benefits In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
