Industrial Hygienist (DOE Project)

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is recruiting for an experienced, Industrial Hygienist, for a 12-month contract assignment supporting the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant near Richland, WA. This onsite role offers a W2 hourly base rate with time and a half for overtime, per diem, and mobilization / demobilization. Our client is targeting $70.00 - $75.00/hour for this role.
Project Overview:
We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. The Hanford VIT Plant is located 22 miles northwest of Richland, WA and works a 4/10 schedule, Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.
U.S. Citizenship is required. Applicant needs to be able and willing to work weekends as needed. Applicant needs to be able and willing to work night shift (5:30pm to 4:00am) as needed.
Responsibilities: Assist with implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety, and occupational health. Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Company health and safety regulations. Exhibits knowledge and applies advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of industrial hygiene. Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area. Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize hazards. Provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs. Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed. Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives. Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence, and program compliance documents. Establishes and maintains permits as required. Maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems, and procedures. Performs statistical analysis of Industrial Hygiene data. Support the values of safety and quality to protect self, others, and the environment.
Education / Experience: Bachelor of Science Occupational Health/Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field. 6+ years of experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing, or petroleum refining environment. In lieu of degree, 10 years of similar experience. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
Preferred Qualifications: Pursue and/or complete an ABIH Certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH). Experience in developing Industrial Hygiene programs and procedures.
