Carmeuse Americas Savage Operation specializes in processing high-calcium limestone into specified granules and powders for use in a variety of commercial and industrial applications. Carmeuse is looking to hire a maintenance professional with a welding certificate. This individual will work on assigned high value projects while performing inspections, modifications, repair and maintenance of electrical apparatuses, equipment and systems ensuring the work is performed in accordance with all relevant codes and safety standards.
Reports To: Site Maintenance Manager
Shift: Primarily 1st Shift (6:00am – 2:30pm) / Occasionally weekends
Primary Job Duties:
• Inspecting, repairing, installing, and servicing of stationary and other plant equipment.
• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, cables, pumps,
conveyors, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot.
• Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
• Fabrication of parts where necessary
• Cleans and lubricates parts, orders replacement parts
•Inspects completed repairs; performs all work in accordance with safety procedures.
• Use heavy equipment and operate machines to complete duties or to fill in for personnel vacancies.
• Requisitions new parts and equipment; and other duties as assigned by management.
• Follows blueprints to determine and to conform to assembly guidelines of new and current
equipment.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Must have welding certification
• 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience; mining, cementation, pulp & paper etc.
• Working experience in an industrial or large commercial environment
• Working experience with metal fabrication
• Experience with troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of equipment and apparatuses including motors, conveyer belts, and other relevant equipment & systems
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, perform trouble shooting
• Understanding of ladder logic
• Must be able to pass OJT hands on assessment during probation
• Maintain Valid driver’s license
• Able to pass drug and alcohol test and background check
Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Maintenance experience in the mining space
• Millwright certification
• Previous experience training/ leading team
• Outstanding communication, detail and goal oriented
Remuneration & Benefits:
• Base pay between $31.89 - $39.75 depending on skills/abilities
• Top tier experience will receive an additional $1.00/hr
• Eligible for additional Skills Premiums of up to $1.50/hr
