The Ajax packaging facility, where these positions are based, is one of the largest employers in Ajax and Durham Region. We provide innovative packaging solutions to the beverage market and serve name brand customers such as Coca Cola, Pepsi, Labatt and Molson to name a few. 

The Job Opportunity: 

The Smurfit Westrock Ajax facility is looking for Industrial Millwrights to work in our Maintenance department.  This position is responsible to install, maintain and repair all equipment within the plant. 

 
Install New Electrical Systems:

Read blue prints to understand how/where installation are to occurParticipate as a team member to install or move any large machinery in the plant

 

Plant/Machinery Preventative Maintenance: 

Ensure machinery within the plant is regularly serviced and operating wellOperate Power Tools to perform necessary repairsOperate Lathe, Welder, Milling Machine, Drill Presses, Cutting Tools, and Saws to repair damaged parts or design new partsRegular cleaning, checking all equipment within the plant to ensure satisfactory operation and safety

 

Trouble Shooting: 

Respond to machine operators request for a work order by running the machine to determine exactly what the problem isRead and understand necessary blue prints to help determine where the problem is

 

What you need to succeed:

Successful completion of a post secondary education in Mechanical/ Millwright program or equivalentIndustrial Millwright license/certification in good standingMinimum 3 years experience working in a manufacturing environment Full understanding of CSA and Code electrical standards and complianceExperience working with lathe, welder, milling machine, drill presses and cutting tools considered an asset.Can do attitude and willingness to learn and grow with the CompanyAbility to adapt to changes in priorities, work independently and with a teamRead and understand blue prints, specifications, and manufacturers manualsAbility to stand and walk 100% of shift on a concrete floor and ability to lift up to 40 pounds.Must be able to maintain good attendance.

 

 

Shift Schedule:

 

Must be able to work all 12 hour rotating shifts:

Days: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PMNights: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AMShifts rotate every two weeks and include working weekends
