Industrial Painter

Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for an Industrial Painter to join our growing team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Hamilton, Washington State.

This person will be working in our paint and blast group and will spend a majority of that time blasting composite parts in preparation for paint or applying paint coats as required.

The following essential job functions are performed as an Industrial Painter:

Stage parts and assemblies for blasting processes. Prepare and setup of necessary tools and equipment for blasting processes. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters. Sand surfaces between coats of paint or primer to remove flaws and enhance adhesion for subsequent coats. Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings. Mask designated surface areas with tape or paper in order to protect them from paint. Fill small dents or scratches with fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare vehicles for painting. Lay out logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces, according to blueprint specifications, using measuring instruments, stencils, or patterns. Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, or scaffolding. Operate lifting and moving devices in order to move equipment or materials so that areas to be painted are accessible. Clean and maintain an orderly work area. Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety policies and procedures. Attention to detail and quality is required Reads and understands blue prints, isometric drawings and work orders Receives and carries out directions from designated Supervisors and Production Leads Must understand and comply with Safety and 5S, Must understand and comply with AS9100 and Nadcap Practices and Procedures as applicable Must be able to read, understand and execute Work Orders to exacting specifications Identifies and obtains equipment, tools and materials needed to properly perform job function Set up scaffolding and safety barriers under direction Properly executes Hazardous Material Disposal activities Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition Knowledge and use of common hand tools Performs on the job training for Project Certifications, AS9100, NADCAP training and other training as required Works in other Cells to support Production as required, ie; Mill, Mold/Fab or Assembly Cells Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

One or more years of experience in related field strongly desired.  Experience in aircraft frame assembly/maintenance and/or painting would be a plus. Minimum requirement for all positions is a high school diploma or GED. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Wage range for this role is between $20-$45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
