This position: + Performs supervisory and technical work in the maintenance and repair of advanced water renewal (wastewater treatment) facilities and other public works utilities as needed. + Plans, coordinates, schedules and supervises maintenance and repairs of the mechanical, technical and facility systems of industrial, regulated utilities. + Requires independent judgment and initiative. + This position works under limited supervision. Essential Functions Performs the full range of duties (with appropriate managerial review), including hiring, evaluating, promoting and assigning duties; corrects inappropriate actions or behavior through communication and coaching; initiates discipline or termination as needed; and oversees employees or a group. Troubleshoots and performs complex analyses of mechanical, electrical, HVAC and instrumentation systems for repair, replacement and new installation of equipment and structures. Trains employees on federal, state and local employment guidelines. Oversees the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs and procedures for electrical, HVAC, and instrumentation trades. Develops job safety analysis and standard operating procedures for equipment and systems. Utilizes computerized maintenance programs to create and maintain detailed maintenance reports to ensure compliance with local, state and federal rules, regulations and laws. Evaluates maintenance records and trends to optimize system performance, reduce energy cost, and predict maintenance needs. Plans and coordinates major repairs, maintenance and installations with engineering, contractors and operations staff. Reviews operations and maintenance plans, engineering design documents, industry publications and equipment specifications to advise and make recommendations on process, facility and equipment selection. Assists in the formulation and preparation of maintenance budgets and capital improvement projects. Evaluates and researches new equipment for replacement purchase consideration. Writes specifications for bids on industrial equipment, machines and tools. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training + High school diploma or equivalent and + 3 years of experience as a journey-level electrician, HVAC, pipe fitter, facility maintenance or industrial mechanic, and + experience in a supervisory or lead position or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Knowledge of: + occupational safety standards and hazards associated with various trades, industrial maintenance and wastewater operations; + maintenance management systems; + programming computerized systems, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, instrumentation and facility maintenance and repairs; + wastewater operation and process control, theory and practices; + effective supervisory principles and practices; + reading blueprints in an industrial setting; standard safety practices; + construction trade work including carpentry, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; and + computer usage including related software. Ability to: + read and interpret technical manuals, SDS (safety data sheets) data and other safety procedures; + effectively train and lead others; + organize and coordinate projects; + diagnose equipment malfunctions and upgrades; + communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and + perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation. Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record. Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training 7 years of maintenance experience in a Class IV advanced wastewater treatment facility with five years of supervisory experience. Completion of supervisory courses provided by a city or an equivalent organization. Wastewater Treatment Operator Class II or higher license or a formal degree or trade certification in maintenance management and practices. Licensing And Other Requirements Valid state-issued driver’s license. Ability to obtain a Wastewater Treatment Operator Class 1 or Operator-in-Training (OIT) license within six months of meeting Idaho Bureau of Occupational Licenses eligibility requirements.
