Industrial Welding Technician III (39541)

Clariant is currently looking for a Industrial Welding Technician Level III to support the Care Chemicals business unit in Clear Lake, TX. This role will perform advanced welding tasks and support the maintenance of critical equipment and piping systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical skill set, hands-on experience with advanced welding techniques, and a commitment to safety and quality. They must thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. This position is a full time, onsite opportunity. Responsibilities

•    Set up and operate welding equipment, including SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, for open-root welds on a variety of pipes and materials
•    Prepare and execute open-root V-groove welds on carbon steel, low-alloy, and stainless-steel pipes in multiple positions (1G-Rotated, 2G, 5G, and 6G)
•    Read and interpret welding symbols, detailed drawings, and specifications to meet project requirements
•    Identify different metals and apply appropriate heat treatment procedures based on their characteristics
•    Operate oxyfuel cutting tools and job site machinery
•    Perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning welds, lubricating machinery, and troubleshooting welding equipment
•    Conduct visual inspections of welds and support non-destructive testing methods to ensure weld quality and compliance with specifications
•    Apply knowledge of piping systems, valve types, and basic rigging practices to assist the overall maintenance team
 


 

Requirements

•    High school diploma required
•    NCCER Level 1 Industrial Maintenance Technician certification
•    NCCER Level 3 Welding Assessment certification
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment performing equipment maintenance and welding tasks
•    Exposure to SAP for documentation and reporting
•    Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of advanced welding techniques and equipment
•    Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols
•    Effective communication skills and professional behavior in team settings
•    Consistent delivery of high-quality welds that meet project specifications
